ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

The fee will b

The fee will be north of the 142 million they got for Coutinho.

I seen Timo Werner linked with them recently, maybe a Salah replacement.

Bayern for all their huge turnover that's the 4th largest in football don't pay big on transfer fees, they prefer going the Bosman route and buying younger cheaper players and raiding any German team that is a threat to their Bundesliga dominance.

It will be Madrid alone for Salah as they are rumoured to be spending over 500 million euros this summer for a rebuild and selling Isco,Cebellos,James,Benzema,Kroos and Bale as rumoured to fund that splurge.

It will be a another hefty profit for the RS sadly to spend fixing their weak positions in defence midfield and GK.

Nobody is paying that for a dude with one good season. Literally nobody.

Morning Lurkers, and welcome to Merseyside to all Lurkers who joined this last couple of days.
A must read for you all, the headline is pure gold.

Basically he's saying next year could be their year?

Who? Keita? Thought it was quite a bit less than that.

Even if it was that much it's still less than half of £142m.
I just checked £66m it was for a player with one seasons experience when they bought him . When you consider salah has been on the rise for a few years they could get near £140m for him . Liverpool always get decent dough for there top players ,

So true, he got more respect from us in his retirement whenever he came to Goodison than he ever did from the RS after they banished him.

Used to see him often at Goodison in the 70's, he was always made welcome and he never got any snash.

Little known fact about them, 16 March 1977, Liverpool played a legendary game at Anfield against Saint-Étienne, European Cup Quarter-finals, that night Bill Shankly went to Hillsborough to watch Everton play Aston Villa in the League cup final replay, that alone says a lot of about him and them

Nice one Carlin, that's a good one for Groucho's Fact Hunt.

All joking aside I had a great respect for Shankly, it was he who is almost single handedly responsible for hauling them from obscurity, they dumped on him from a great height and we somewhat adopted him, it's funny how they never mention that when they're lauding him.

180k a week for that absolute cart horse Van Dijk. Dear me. Alderweireld will have his choice of any club in Europe and like every other top player will not be choosing Liverpool.

The fee is pure ludicrous but for me Van Dijk a very good modern defender. Wins the vast majority of his aerial duels, is good on the ball, decent pace, can pick a pass and seems to be constantly organising and talking to his partner. What grates me is that it's the likes of Southampton who keep picking up these players (Wanyama, Mane, Alderweireld, VVD) when it really should be us taking the relatively low risk deals.

We've been the best of the rest for a while yet our transfer business just doesn't reflect that. The sooner we get an actual philosophy right through the club where the manager, scouts, coaches, youth set up, director of football are all reading from the same page the better.

When we do take a chance and take a punt on an unknown our geordie like fans whinge and moan about the boards lack of support for the manager and the clubs lack of ambition ??? Can't have it both ways

True but I think the lack of cohesion at the club contributes to that. I mean it's happening right before our eyes again, we've brought a load of players in without knowing where and how they will fit in at the club and the side and then just deemed a couple of them not good enough and then we have the fans writing off the same players as well.

We need somebody like what Niko Kovac has done at Frankfurt - https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/nov/07/niko-kovac-eintracht-frankfurt-bundesliga

If you can be arsed give it a read. That was back in 2016, right now Frankfurt are sitting in 3rd. He's a handsome [Poor language removed] to boot.

Feels like I've wasted this post in this thread though. Best posting in elsewhere.

I've just been watching the ESPN panel talking about the Liverpool - West Ham match and Steve Nicol said the worst thing against
West Hams chances was David Moyse's terrible record at Anfield.

He hasn't managed a winning team there, but I'm pretty sure Everton drew there more often than they lost, and I don't think the Red
fans will have been going home happy after many of those draws. Nor will they if the Hammers get a point.
