Eddie Howe

I don't get why being English has any value in football terms. The last time England produced decent managers was the Bobby Robson era circa 1986, and even then they ultimately won nothing. For some reason we seem unable to produce the quality of players we see elsewhere. The much heralded academy system has seemingly worsened rather than improved the problem.
It says something that the last two England managers have been Allardyce followed by Southgate.
Not saying being English is of any value mate. Just saying he’s the best English candidate. Personally I want Silva or Fonseca.

I like Howe myself and wouldn't be unhappy at all. He's Wenger lite IMO. He plays good stuff and Bournemouth have never come close to being relegated playing expansively. That's a minor miracle in itself. Give him the budget the last two clowns have had and I think he'd do very good things for us.

This.

I can’t get my head round people thinking he’d take us anywhere.
Took Bournemouth up all 4 leagues after saving them from non league with a massive points deduction. Consolidated a small club in the pl with a relatively small budget playing 21st century football.

I.e he’s given more evidence than Dyche who a lot seem to want

He still needs a few years I think. I do like him but his team's are lopsided. Good going forward often weak at the back.

..big concern of mine is the way his teams try and play from the back. It means they sit very deep, and it’s also suicidal against the top teams who press from the front. Bournemouth aren’t very good at it but he persists with it. It will suit our slow and ponderous CBs because we have to defend deep.

The plus is he has a strategy but i’m not sure how effective it can be in this league.

what people have to ask is will the next manager attract better players, I think Koeman as a brand attracted players but I don't think Howe will. we need to think bigger if we want better, Howe isn't a bad manager but he would only keep us where we are and not push us on

Not totally convinced he would take us higher than we've been in recent years, but something to be said about staying consistent with Bournemouth, a team with basically zero big names.

Fonseca has been with six different clubs in the past seven years. Shocking. Not to say he hasn't done well with Shakhtar, but is it proof that he would be a success at one of the most competitive leagues in the world? He has a worse record as Porto manager, and has done better going down to a smaller league, in Ukraine. Red flag city for me.
