....I recall Ancelotti saying he wants strikers who are effective on counter-attack. Seeing as though Dzeko is slower than me (i am 64), I would be very surprised if there’s anything in this.

Think he's a player who has improved with age. I've seen a few games where he has literally terrorised the RS in Europe, and that's with "the best defender in de world" playing. I actually think he would be brilliant coming on for DCL for the final 20 minutes in games, keeping Dom fresh for the next game, and would be very dangerous at set pieces getting on the end of James' and Digne's deliveries. If we took him on loan for the rest of the season, with the specific purpose of helping us get Champions League football next season, then I wouldn't have a problem.
However that's not going to happen as you say. He's still a top player and will have many suitors amongst top European clubs. For me it has Juventus or AC Milan all over it. And don't be surprised if the Roma board try and get him and Fonseca to kiss and make up. He's absolutely adored there.
