Which Everton first team players would you want to be offered contract extensions before their contract are up in the summer?
I have excluded the 2 backup keepers from the poll as they have not featured in the league this season and DCL as he so far doesn't appear to want to sign a new deal. You can vote on more than one player

I'd like Gana to be kept on. Has been arguably the clubs player of the season. Possibly Young aswel due to his versatility in a few positions and stays injury free and seems a good egg. Especially with the amount of numbers needed to be brought in it might not be a bad idea retaining him if his wages are reasonable.

The rest can leave imo. Coleman has been a great servant to the club but injuries has surely called time on his playing career but hopefully stays within the club under a new role

There's now a quite reasonable aversion to the club employing ex-players as coaches if they're not technically up to it, regardless of how good and loyal players they were, but I'd hope Coleman could have some sort of role - maybe just ambassadorial, if it could be economically managed.
Sounds as if Coleman is keen to get into the coaching side of things after he retires. If he does that with Everton hopefully it works out well for him and the club

I am desperate to keep Gueye, but I'm not overly bothered about anyone else. Maybe a player-coach role for Coleman, if he doesn't retire?
I`d have no problem giving him a role as a coach, but since he`s missed most of this season as a player I don`t see the point having him registered as a player for another year. If he wants to keep playing let him move on.

Easiest poll ever for me.

Keep Gana , thanks to everyone else but goodbye as a player if we are serious about progressing.

I'm sure there's a coaching role for Coleman.

This is a great opportunity to reduce the wage bill with player who are deadwood or have been blighted by injury.

Well, that's what I'd do but it really wouldn't surprise me if we retain everyone except Keane.

In particular I reckon Moyes would like to keep Doucoure if we will agree reduced terms.

….dreadful transition management has left us in a right mess, probably 8 regular starters out of contract next season. It really is fortunate we’ve got ourselves out of trouble because it would’ve been an even bigger catastrophe had we gone down.

It might be more a case of us having to offer new deals to certain players just to ensure we have squad numbers next season.

I’m sure most would like to see the back of Michael Keane but a contract extension might be necessary given the numbers we have to get in with limited spend. Our loan deals have been generally very poor and Alcaraz is probably the only one to consider making permanent.

Gueye is the obvious extension but 6 with regular midfield starters out of contract this summer, Armstrong’s emergence will help.

Moyes and his team have been left with a huge challenge this summer.

I suspect one of the reasons we are in the situation is the fear of relegation. It would have been financial folly to renew contracts for multiple years if we were about to take a huge reduction in our income. We were already living beyond our means in terms of wages as a ratio to turnover. A large number of our soon to be out of contract players are on very large wages and, if they had contracts beyond this season and we had been relegated, would have had little incentive to move on before the end of their contracts. As you have repeatedly said, paying mediocre players high wages on long contracts has been a perennial problem, yet now you seem to be advocating doing just that. Furthermore, you also regularly, and correctly, point out that you cannot force players to sign contracts or to leave the club. It would have only made sense to re-sign players on reduced terms or, at the very least, with relegation clauses reducing their salaries should relegation happen. Why would they sign such deals with the prospect of a Bosman deal on the horizon?

I know you despise Thelwell, but in terms of the contract situation regarding many of these players he was in an extremely difficult position and, let's be honest, many of the players leaving at the end of the season will not be missed. The difficulty will be replacing them in a cost effective manner with as little disruption to the playing squad as possible.
