EFC - playing football the right way

Player Valuation: £100m
Yesterday after about 12 minutes when vic was through on goal and was brought down by williams, there should have been a red card. however, it was very refreshing to see none of our player surrounding the ref and hounding him waving imaginary cards that does seem custom of our beautiful game at the moment. it's a competitive sport where you have to beat whats in front of you and although we seem to get a lot of wrong decisions against us, we just get on with it and this is where everton should be really respected in the world of football and looked up to.

if that had been the RS in that situation, you will no doubt have seen suarez running up to ref screaming at him before he even brandished a card. soon we will have no officials left to officiate games if players are constantly undermining their ability to do their job. williams' tackle was a definite red but after it wasn't given we just got on with it and produced a brilliant display. a brilliant display which was dished out just a few days after we had been robbed by more poor officiating, but instead of dwelling on it too much, we came straight out of the blocks and could have been 2 or 3 up within the first 10 mins.

THAT ladies and gentlemen is called respect and how the game should be played. a mirror contrast is watching chelsea vs stoke on MOTD with two terrible attempts at a dive for penalties (defended by the manager as well!). if you can't win fairly, why should you be allowed to play the sport again if you try and do so by cheating?

it's why i love everton so much, we've have plenty of injustices in the last 10 years but we don't go on and on about it, fantastic performance last night toffees, great stuff to watch.

We're playing better football, We're being less 'honest' [in a good way at times] And overall a much better footballing team, we can get goals from anywhere now, not just baines.

Spot on that mate.

I often wonder how many extra points we'd get over a season if we were a more cynical, snidier side than we are.

Disagree. We need the odd arsehole in the squad who will scream at a ref. If we had, Williams would have walked and we would have made the game easy for ourselves.

The big clubs all know how to manipulate a referee, and it really is a case of "nice guys finish last".

I'd rather win more often than be considered "gentlemen", and to be frank the all-but racism against scousers up and down this country sees other fans see us as thugs as a club anyway. Why do we care who we impress with being nice?

Just been watching Goals on Sunday, after Pienaar was fouled and the ref went to speak to Dyer, you can see Pienaar waving to him saying not to book him.

i know what you're trying to say but i think it's more of a case of successful teams benefiting from decisions rather than snide teams. stoke have a squad full of snides yet they don't seem to benefit from too many decisions. liverpool aren't getting the same dodgyness they were a few years ago when they were a top 4 team. suarez gets booked more for diving than the pens he actually wins. whereas united are still on top and still get very dubious calls all the time.

quite frankly whatever we achieve will be held in much higher regard by ourselves compared to what others achieve. i was on about respect from ourselves rather than from others. we'll never get plaudits of MOTD ffs and i dont care

Just watched goals and Sunday and they just said we had 31 shots and we only got 3 we need to be more clinical although we haven't got jelavic

yeah, I don't want to be like Barcelona in this aspect. I dispise them already but I can't stand when you can't even see the ref due to so many guys circling him like sharks in order to get a call.

I think if i not mistaken on that Williams foul, Neville walked over to the ref as well and seemed like he was defending him to only get a yellow. I wonder if in the long run showing the refs respect will in fact help us, perhaps in 50/50 calls the ref will give to us rather than the snides who jump around him constanly.

Consistency to performances is the thing , its ok playing like world beaters and passing it around like carpet football one week , and the next , which has been the case in past, Hoofing it and all over the shop like they have never played together before , when we get that True consistency , we are on to something deffo

How many truly bad games have we had since January? West Brom away second half, both Liverpool games and that's about it.

couldn't have put it better

jelavic and heits are the only snidey type players we got at the moment i reckon. Like someone said above, i think it's needed in a way, you cant be getting up and shaking everyones hand everytime you get brought down in the box. It was nice to see Harper do similar against us though for Vic
