Electric car advice

The Lithium has to be mined very green for the environment = NOT -

None of the environmental arguments against EVs stack up vs the current ICE vehicle ecosystem.

The fossil fuel industry and ICE vehicle production is vastly more damaging to the environment than EV production is.

Regardless, I look forward to your next false argument when Lithium free batteries in EVs become common in the next few years.

“Green logs I burn”

Oh Joey

Driving an EV where the energy is generated from fossil fuel power plants is far more efficient and better for the environment than individual ICE cars doing the same. Nobody is talking about eliminating fossil fuels completely.

Dry kiln logs are green & pass the net zero guide lines - how much feul to ship them in from Latvia? Feul wise?
Plus my log smokeless coal fire is cheaper than Gas or electric as it runs 8 radiators on my central heating!
Poland have over 300 coal mines - Germany open a coalmine every week !

Careful buying any car with Chinese parts, turns out some are being suspected of spying for the Chinese state and certain employers are not keen employees using these vehicles near sensitive work places.

link when it lands.

Parts can be a nightmare too, leading to long periods off the road.

We looked at buying an MG suv, as you got loads for your money, but when I started reading about them, lengthy waits for repairs, due to parts not being stocked and having to come from China seemed to be common place.

Its all about choice mate as for cyclyst they should pay road tax & insurance over the age of 18 years old ....
as for a horse & cart how about the methane gas .... Its just got expensively stupid IMO my car is very economical on petrol hence the £20 road tax with less emissions ....
I like the idea of that car that recharges the battery , but one ask how long will they last ?
Why should cyclists pay road tax ? They produce no emissions

They can speed more than 20 miles where you live- they can cause accidents = they should pay road tax & insurance & pay spèeding fines too- also fit number plates & have bike MOTs at Halfords etc a good revenue for thd DVLA .. for 18 years old above .....

Didn’t think Joey was the kind to suffer from Reddit poisoning but hey ho.

I’m planning a move to a much more compact city and I’ll replace my 2013 plug-in hybrid once we get there. Might go fully electric but more likely another plug-in hybrid. When I got mine the range was a measly 10 miles or so but now the batteries are good for 40-50 miles. Enough battery to cover city trips but I can still take it wherever else I might have to drive without worrying about how to charge it up away from home.

And how much tax are you suggesting they pay ?

reckon this push bike tax and insurance (and fines of course) will cover the extra 50k traffic officers nationwide required to police it?

Meanwhile down piggy hq...
[5:30pm before handover - in the changies]
officer 1 "Another tough day on the beat, roughing up minorities, you know a days grafts been done when there's lots of blood on your baton!"
officer 2 "I'm just starting a night shift, turfing out time is best, always some vulnerable skirt about then"
officer 3 "Well, it was a tough day chasing children I suspected of being 18 today, but they were all 16 and 17 years old, no fines, no collars, just a day hanging round school gates"
pig 1 & 2 "hahahahahaahaha!".
