Electronic music thread

Here you go.
Should be up on Mixcloud sometime next week or so.
It was the stations 3rd birthday this weekend, so there were loads of DJ's playing and they tend tyo do mix cloud uploads 1 per day, so may be later in the week if not next.

When you on again? Enjoyed last Sunday. Also...

Nothing arranged yet. Might be later in the month. Will probably make the next one a classics mix.

Last Sundays should be up on Tues or Weds I think.
In the list, there's some pretty fruity remix's, where do you encounter these originally? Re 'classics', has an 'alt classics' been done?

I post a bit over on Trancefix.nl forums.
Their releases section usually has good variety as there’s a few people with their ears out in the various different sub cultures of the genre.

Also I listen to a few podcasts now and again and following other producers on Soundcloud, listening to the stuff they are putting out or reposting to their feeds.

Homework! :D

I had never heard of Yellow Magic Orchestra, but they apparently launched the electro-pop sound in Japan and elsewhere...I certainly didn't realize that their song "Behind the Mask" was covered by Michael Jackson (he added lyrics), The Human League, and Eric Clapton:

They're great, they pretty much invented video game music in the 80's. their solo stuff is worth a listen too

I don't really think Sakamoto got the credit he deserved, although he probably will now. Tends to be the way

Yeah, apparently so. I just read all about them on wikipedia. I clearly missed a huge chunk of music history...I was listening to punk and classic rock in late 70s/early 80s and missed this entirely.

It has just been announced that Sakamoto has died, I assume that's why you posted this but it may have just been a coincidence

I see. The only other forum I am a part of is a watch forum. One of the long-time members is from Japan and posted the Rydeen video today saying "another one down"...so now I get the reference he was making. This sent me down the wikipedia rabbit hole...

YMO were ignored by the western music press, arrogantly, and mockingly.
The Rydeen stuff was like an untold secret 😊
