Electronic music thread

This is a sample of a track called 'Do the Right Thing' by BiXX just released on the Nocturnal Knights label (A pretty big trance label I might add) that I've dragged into Ableton.

Whoever is mixing/mastering these needs to call it a day, because that is frankly shocking.
Absolutely slammed through a compressor/limiter. Who needs dynamics or fidelity when we can turn everything above 1.7khz into bloody white noise.
So many tracks being released like this these days.

Yay loudness war!

Least there’s a bit of go to it though. I’ve spent the past year moaning on YouTube comments on every single track released on Anjunabeats for having the worst drops and beats I’ve ever heard lol

fkkin hate loudness wars...a real culture-dampener.

happy to have a monstrous collection of 90's techno-trance cd's/vinyl where that wasn't a thing.
You should try this thread:

There's a big underground scene of modern producers making that 90's era style trance. Some of it is rather good!

Released this year would you believe? :D

a bit mild that. i think 90's techno-trance sounds so damn fine as it is also of its time...difficult to replicate that energy and feel of back then.

had Music For The Jilted Generation on earlier ...that still sounds like it was made in the future!

generally i like the darker harder trippier stuff. we went to a darkpsy set last week, that's produced quite tidily with enough room for elements to breathe (important for psychedelic effect). party had a nice clear megaloud soundsystem, i'd find the sweetspot and bliss out. just a couple short clips out there, was a 24-hour set in all lol

nicely chill vibe, folk in good spirits. really got me in the mood for more dancing events.

Love me a bit of pumping psytrance as well. Juno Reactor, Astral Projection and these days it has to be Astrix:

oh yes! Juno are one of my all-time favourite bands. i reckon the most-impressive album-discography in all of edm: nicely varied.

seen them live twice, their main man is a pioneer of the original Goa Trance sound and also defined Juno's unique style of cinematic tribal-trance.

one for the road:

my first LSD adventure was at an Astral Projection gig, back in Brixton 99/00-ish. melted my brain haha Still love their stuff, this one probably my favourite...so alien and sinister:
