Endemic fan negativity doesn't help the club

Fans wanting to win things or at least be competitive, my God the cheek of them.
Should just accept the good times like bill has said mediocre for decades it's the way to go, I mean who is a better fan than him and he says it's true so it must be.
I stopped going after forty odd years of going ,the game because we had become a club that had low expectations, it becomes ingrained in the fabric of the club from the top.
Fans should never stop wanting more.
Say what you like about kopites they never accept being second best even when there worst is better than are best.
Why should we.

A culture amongst too many fans of consistently unrealistic expectations and negativity has imposed a huge burden on the club and team over the last few years

Rather than creating a positive and confident culture, this contributes to fear and anxiety in the team

Balanced, well considered and constructive analysis, critique and support is noticeable by its absence

To change this, fans would need to actively work on changing their mindsets - some fans seem to be hard wired this way though and unlikely to change - so presumably if the worst happened and we went down, the negativity would still be present

All I can ask is that people somehow try to be as positive and supportive as possible to the end of the season - help build up the team and staff's confidence rather than knocking it down

The fans can make a difference here!
I take it you wern't at the Leeds & Newcastle games mate?

I used to subscribe to this notion, particularly around the Koeman & Silva days!

But logically, go ask Tim Cahill, Mikel Arteta, Tim Howard, Phil Jagielka etc etc if the fans negativity is a problem?

Surely the problem lies within a group of players, put together by a conglomerate of agents, poor owners & DOF's who either didnt know what they were doing or weren't aloud to do what they are doing!

We have players in our team who have the right attitude but probably aren't good enough as a footballer (Coleman's attitude is spot on, i think if Holgate had any ability we would love him being mouthy & kicking off all the time)

We also have players who are technically good, but have absolute no brain or mentality! That isnt down to the fans that is down to the club, the recruitment and mostly the board and the owners!

Moyes ditthered on signings in the past, and we had the whole Ever-Loan thing, but it was more a case to suss the players out mentally to see how they were.
We havent done an inch of savyness like that for 5 years

People are looking far too deeply in to things. The team is just bad. It's not lack of effort, it's not poor mentality, it's not the fans being mean, it's not the manager's substitutions, it's just that we have a collection of footballers who are not very good at attacking or defending, or the bits in between. I'm amazed that even last night hasn't woken people up to this. They tried (as a unit I mean, the efforts of DCL were questionable in my opinion) but ultimately they aren't even capable of beating one of the few teams at their level, because they are genuinely that bad. That back 4 is probably as bad as anything that's played PL football in the last 10 years (with apologies to Branthwaite because it's not his fault), Holgate is a not very good centre half playing in midfield, Iwobi a not very good 10/winger in midfield etc. It doesn't matter what anyone does or how hard they try or whatever, this team simply cannot win games of football because they lack the basic footballing ability to do so.

I think they have been trying all season but they always find a way to lose, i do think they effort is there, but as you say the just cant do it, we dont have a viable 1 to 11
