Coal gone up for the first time in ages - smokeless only not by 80 percent though ..around 20 percent - I had 2 tons delivered two weeks ago runs 8 radiators plus all the hot water we need .....but
Install use gas to cook plus electricity so My bills will go up - but winter will not bother us ...,.

I also burn dry kiln logs & recycled sawdust logs if homee bargains stock them - the guy next door has had a heat pump installed.'..... the engineer told me they don't work that well......

This is a killer for 20 percent of the public & any industry & we sit on black gold ...'Germany have decided to open some coalmines - Poland have over 300 operating & their coal is shale coal very poor coal .....it's their main industry...,.
Her statement North sea gas would last for ever seems so futile now ........

The green aim in the future is obtainable at a cost investment should have happened when Thatcher closed our coal mines .....
I might order some coal to be honest. Is it worth getting in for even one fire a night? My wood burner is dual fuel...

Do you mean underground, or in reserves? Why isn't it being used? (American here, not too savvy on UK life)
Thatcher flooded the hundreds of coalmines to destroy them - they could be opened with technology but the green issues will stop that - yet the coal fumes could be cleaned out ..'..
We have the best coal in the world ....

I think we do, but the cost of mining is the peoble. For example Wales has the best slate but it's cheaper to import poorer slate then to mine Welsh slate, I'm guessing the same applies to coal.

It really is ridiculous what the new price caps have risen to, can see a lot of people dying over the winter due to the rise. More blood on the Tory hands.
Unfortunately, the leadership contest, which is due to end in September, has ensured that over a month has passed without action from the government.

When it’s finally, there’ll be a lot of catching up to do, but I’m fairly confident the support already promised will be at least doubled, if not more.

A few mines got reopened a while back but the majority of them have closed back down.

Hydrogen will be the big energy provider in the near future.

That puts a very small plaster over what will become a very large wound for millions of families. More needs to be done to lower the prices and to prevent this happening again in future.

My workplace is only partially running as the energy prices continue to rise.
Maybe next week we might be able to restart production.
Even rumours of us being taken over by a non UK manufacturer, which hopefully is true, otherwise its game over.
