Baines struggles without a guy infront of him whom he can play off. Gerrard is f*cking hopeless in that regard.

Look at 0:30 to see it.

oh my god i'm a dc united fan and everytime i go to the chicago game i lose my voice from yelling at that fat diving neckless cvnt

also did Baines seem almost disinterested for most of the second half. first half i saw him repeatedly making runs down the sideline, showing for players and trying to get involved. second half, i've never even seen him try that little for us, let alone in an international game. i'm not sure if he sort of gave up on breaking into the squad or what but i thought it was disappointing to see him playing like that. of course it might have been fatigue since he was basically playing left back and left midfield for the first 60 or so minutes of the game.

Just finished watching after I got home and a few observations:

1) Baines did well first half and had a nightmare second half. HOWEVER, many of you nailed it. When he got the ball, he absolutely had NO ONE showing for it. NO ONE. I expect at an international level, that basic ideas like this would be covered. Apparently not. Defensively though, he could have done a lot better in the second half. I'll just chalk it up to either laziness or exhaustion on the part of the midfield.

2) I honestly didn't know that Milner was on the pitch until minute 20. Can you believe that? Minute 20 and I hear Milner's name. Absolutely, positively, anonymous. To be fair, he's a winger, not a center of the park kind of guy so I think it was bit over his head.

3) Now you see why I still laugh when I say that Manchester United paid 18M for Michael Carrick.

4) That was one of the best performances I've seen by Mexico in a long long time and yes, I hate saying that but what do you know, CONCACAF football isn't near as bad as many might believe. If they could finish, it might have been a totally different game. And they did a lot of this without their star Guardado as well as Ochoa in the goal. They also had Osorio in back instead of Magaillon. Mexico could go quite a way in this World Cup. Yeah, I know that Terry, Cole, etc... were on the sidelines but still.

5) Crouch continues to impress at the international level.

Baines had a bit of a mare. I still think he will go though, he needed better support.

I thought Johnson played very well last night, he was all over the place, banging the ball in, scoring etc, a great player for the WC.

Again though I thought Stevie G la was terrible. He didnt even make an effort, he will go to the WC but he shouldnt.

Did anyone see two of the gayest dives from Gerrard? The media seemed to have missed it.

I can't wait til they get knocked out.

I've got a horrible feeling Johnson may well be one of the stars of the WC.

And Gerrard is going to Real, so he can't be arsed. Just saw an interview with Alonso on SSN and when asked about it, he looked at the camera, winked, smiled, winked again and whispered through the side of his hand "Whatcha thisa space-ah".

Dunno why he was pretending to be italian like.
