Good to watch England again and be on the front foot. Nice win. Apart from positive win another positive was Broja mugged Burn right off with headed duel, probably Albania best attack play.

I'm not nationalistic at all and never really watch England - unless it's big game (semi/final).

I'll never understand why the team has a foreign manager. Surely it has to be the best players/manager the country has?

Have France, Italy, Spain, Germany ever had a foreign manager?

France had an Englishman, Sid Kimpton, as an unofficial manager for two years in the mid 30s, Spaniard José Arribas joint managed 4 games in 1966 with Jean Snella and Romanian Stefan Kovács had 2 years as coach in the 70s

Italy had an Argentinian, Helenio Herrera in joint charge with Ferruccio Valcareggi for a year in 1966

Spain had the same man Herrera in sole charge for a year in 1959 and again in a joint role with Pablo Hernández in 1962. Prior to that Eduardo Teus, a Filipino, was in charge for a year in 1941, another Filipino Paulino Alcantara was in joint charge with two Spaniards, Felix Quesada and Luis Iceta, in 1951. Hungarian Laszlo Kubala had an 11 year reign between 1969 and 1980 and was succeeded by Uruguayan José Santamaría until 1982

Germany are the only ones of that quartet to not have a non national as coach

First ever England match. With the exception of the free kick, it was almost identical to Everton vs Doncaster. All possession, slow paced, won with more goals because opposition got knackered.

Mexican waves and paper aeroplanes says a lot about the quality of football, and I felt so sorry for Pickford in the 2nd half, he touched it once.

Yes, we were at the very back, the Mrs and her sister were latvian and her kids joined us, the son is really into football now but is a plastic city fan (at least I stopped him from being a koptie)20250324_193016.webp

I was sat not far from you mate. There were some belting paper planes TBF

I’m I’ve just had a quick glance at the media, they won 3-0, two consecutive wins for the new manager. They are already sharpening the knives for him - some of the snide comments.

The fella is already onto a loser isn’t he.

The England way.

To be honest they were barely impressive wins that show anything new, and they were against the powerhouses of Latvia and Albania.

I think I counted 7 on the pitch. My wife and I had a discussion of what's the point of printing tickets at home if you can just use your phone? We'll there's the answer.

On the way home I told everyone "if you feel like you've missed, we'll get back to ours and we can chuck paper plates into the neighbours garden from our window
