Goalkeepers: Ben Foster (Birmingham City), Robert Green (West Ham United), Joe Hart (Manchester City)

Defenders: Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Terry (Chelsea)

Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Jordan Henderson (Sunderland), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), James Milner (Manchester City), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Ashley Young (Aston Villa)

Strikers: Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa), Jay Bothroyd (Cardiff City/WAL), Andy Carroll (Newcastle United), Peter Crouch (Tottenham Hotspur

When was the last time a championship player got called up?

Admittedly Bothroyd's scored 14 in 15 or something crazy, so I'd say he's earned it, but it still seems odd.

And I know Rodwell isn't ready yet, in terms of injury, but to see Wilshire, Jordan Henderson, Chris Smalling, Andy Carroll, Kieren Gibbs and Micah Richards there... :/

Rodwell's a better prospect than all of them, in my biased opinion. Wilshere's maybe as good/better, in my objective opinion, but still, Rodwell is better than half of that squad right now.

'WAL'? Explain.

I'd say Marc Albrighton has done more to deserve a place in the squad over Jordan Henderson.

Smalling hasn't done much to merit a place. Would rather see Scott Dann, only 23 years old, be given a chance instead.

Apart from Crouch (mainly because of his good record for England), none of those strikers are good enough to be internationals.

Good. Fabio looks to building for the future. Getting the young inexperienced lads in with the squad long before a tournament. Glad he's picked form players, i'd much rather see Carroll and Bothroyd than Rooney or Heskey. But Gareth Barry FFS, rather see Scott Parker or f*****g Paul Parker than that clown.

Richard Wright by Keegan wasn't it RFUS?

think it was Nugent.

it's good that in the main, form players have been picked, but it's sad when we have to delve into the championship. BUT we the hell is Smalling in there...he has barely played???? We are going to get ripped on wednesday.

Boothroyd is 28 and has a mere 3 Premiership goals to his name following spells at Charlton, Blackburn and Stoke. His goalscoring ratio for Cardiff is slightly better than 1 in 3. On paper there's nothing to suggest that he's Premiership standard, nevermind international level. I presume that means that Kevin Davies' England career is over.

I would have gone with Carson over Green. The West Ham man is well short of his best form, whilst his West Brom counterpart must be doing something right judging by his team's league standing.

We do need a deputy right back. Nobody immediately springs to mind. I guess that Simpson from Newcastle is as good as anyone.

I don't agree with players receiving England callups when they're not playing regularly for their club, so I wouldn't have included Gibbs, Lescott, Smalling or Agbonlahor.

Terry could probably do with a rest. That would allow Jags further international experience and the opportunity to develop an understanding with Ferdinand. As back up I would try out Cahill and Shawcross.

Barry and Milner aren't doing it for City at the moment. I agree that Parker deserves a chance. I hadn't realised that Nolan is only 28. What more does he have to do to get into the squad? He could babysit Carroll too, while he adjusts to the step up.

Albrighton is another good shout. I'd add his Villa team mate Downing too.

Instead of Gibbs, Baines is due another crack. Huddlestone can't be far away either. I haven't seen anything from Henderson to merit all the hype.

I know we're short of strikers, but Young and Walcott can play more centrally, as they have been doing more often for their clubs this season. They've certainly got more international pedigree than Boothroyd.

Still far too many "athletes" with a heavy first touch in there.

Prime suspects include the entire defence apart from Rio, the entire attack, and of course Gerrard, Barry and Walcott.

In central midfield only really Wilshere can trap a ball.
