England Under 21 Euro 2015 Thread

I agree. English players are so over rated its becoming a statement from all around the world. Average players at best.

It's laughable.

The mentality also is beyond a joke.

Italy, Serbia etc seem to all have a great team work ethic that gets them through games/tournaments regardless of how average they are.

Yet we'll have Danny Ings who things he's made it now he's at the RS
Loftus-Cheek who things he's Patrick Viera now at Chelsea
Raheem Sterling who's a £40million player...

Half of these Italian players we'll have never heard of. But I bet one or two of em win a world cup or Euros' before any of our flops.

Absolutely crap to watch, just like the full England side and just like the women's side and do you know why? Because we persist with having managers who haven't got a clue how to set up a team to play creative/inventive football who ALWAYS go for the safe option. Like someone has just mentioned, Gareth sodding Southgate as manager. Enough said.
But that doesn't describe much of their performances during qualifying, their match vs Germany was a delight to watch for example.

How they are performing this tournament vs qualifying reminds me of the difference last season between Everton's league and Europa/2013 form.

Well then that boils down to a poor mental attitude from the players doesn't it LL if they can perform in qualifiers but can't produce even 60% of what they should be capable of during a tournament. They look static, lacking in ideas, timid and happy to pass the ball anywhere but forward. Awful so far and like you said a lot like Everton last season lol

I thought I recognized the ref.

It is as if most England players put on chainmail when they go to a tournament, might be to protect them from the media barbs but tends to slow them down a hell of a lot on the pitch lol

As far as individual performances go only Lingard, Jenkinson and Pritchard (before injury) are showing anything close to their qualifying form. Garbutt has barely put in a decent corner all tournament and we know he can be superb at them.

Yep I would say Pritchard pre injury and Jenkinson are the only ones who can say they've hit a consistent level. How Southgate hasn't changed this is beyond me, take any of the midfield or up top off and make a triple sub
