Or maybe post war decolonisation was inevitable as England were skint and reliant on *ahem* our good 'former colony' of the USA to bankroll for us many years?

In short: England got into a fight with the Nazis, the Nazis pounded them all over the show and England had to wait for the US of A to bail us out otherwise you'd be goosestepping all over the show now. Hang on, as opposed to what?

Do you wish for what could have been?

Speechless here, speechless, we had Hitler on the run, the Yanks just came over for a holiday cos most of them didnt even know where Europe was.

I know, getting involved in conflicts that don't concern them.

Britain was crippled after WW2 because it was forced to fight almost single handedly in two world wars at the start of the centuary that Britain did not start nor wish to originally be involved in.

Poor Britain. They could have not gave Poland a guarantee of their sovereignty like, if they didn't want to really fight but defo wanted to show off and push it's chest out. And hang on, wasn't it called World War 2? So it wasn't just Britain on the allies, just that Britain got spared til last because of it being an island and the geography of Europe.

Germany then proceeded to school them, all over the show, until the daft Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour. The teds.

The US of A don't like being pissed off.
 
Yes, for 2 whole years in WW2 poor old Britain was the only defense the world had against Hitler.

The fact that we were out manned but never out gunned is a credit to the nation.

Are you refering to the period called "the phoney war" mate? They done alright in the Blitz like, give them credit for that, but really Hitler shouldn't have dallied in tw*tting the British Expeditionary Squad on the coast of France when they were retreating like little girls.

What about the Vichy French? And the Australians, and the New Zealanders? Weren't they fighting against the Axis too?

Either way - England 2 USA 0 - Gonna put money on it.

Also, does anyone know if we are wearing red or white?
