England vs. USA

Yeah we didn't set the world alight tonight for sure. Too bad too. We just don't have any real "danger men" and it's easy to shut us down in the midfield.

Sharpy, I've seen plenty of players make the transition from Holland to England (don't kid yourself, it's a step up but not THAT MUCH of a step up) and I really don't think he'd be any different once he adjusts to the pace and physicality of the English League. Other American players have. He wouldn't be any different.

But he certainly didn't do himself any favors tonight. No one in the USA lineup did. Not a big surprise there.

The Gooch was solely to blame for Gerrard's goal in my opinion. Ball is played backwards and he follows the direction while Gerrard steams right by him right as Barry hits the through ball.

I can't say I really enjoyed that game as a spectator. The US had nothing until Adu came on and even when he did it was full of misplaced passes. Bradley didn't do his stock any good, and Howard should have done better for the first goal. Speaking of....who was marking Terry, as he was second in a line of 4 England players that would have had that ball unchallenged.

When the lineups were announced with Johnson and Wolff up front, I shuddered. And rightly so as they are both [Poor language removed] at this level. Every time I see Eddie Johnson play he is dismal, just dismal. The one US player I really saw a spark from was Lewis. Some nice bits of play from him after he came on.

As far as ratings go, I don't think it was so much that England were great, but the US were poor. I rate the US with a 3 and England with a 6.

Becks inclusion for his 100th cap was made worth it with his assist for the disallowed goal and the real goal.

Pretty much a nailed on assessment there Dylan.

Stroll in the park with very little energy expended. Both sides looked lacking to me. The US can do better than this they must of had the Wembley wobbles in their knees. Well my view was most of the players looked disinterested going thru there paces. Sometimes friendlies aren't a good indicator of true caliber of play and last night reinforced that notion.

My best sheep impression Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad game.:D
