Erling Braut Haaland

It’s mad that the goal he scored tonight, is barely discussed.

It’s an unreal skill to read that and get that much connection and power, with the pressure on too.

What a player, I’d pay money to see him, and won’t have to wait much longer.
To really make it and get talked about he has to sign for a darling club like the rs - not the league champions.

Be interesting to see if Man City develop a big fanbase in Norway the way Liverpool did when they had various Norwegian names.

Can’t see it.

If rumours are to be believed, he didn’t even want to sign for City, but because Barca couldn’t afford him and Madrid were playing Chess with Mbappe, he had no choice.

Amazing player, just don’t see him sticking around at City.

They’re a weird one aren’t they City? They’re clearly one of the best sides in the world, yet command absolutely no respect.

They lack history, and got where they are by way of foreign ownership spending big. On the plus side, they have a manager.

It would seem to be the endgame. It's more or less the prestige destination for anyone that didn't come up through Barcelona.

I wouldn't say they have no history - a couple of league titles and a european trophy before the arabs came along, record english league attendance and regular crowds of 30,000+ in the 3rd tier.

Not the same level as the rs or man utd or even us, but they have always been a big club

The no history line is getting tiresome. Lets compare City with your red neighbours.
City won an FA cup 61 years before Liverpool
City won a League cup 12 years before Liverpool
City won a cup in Europe 3 years before Liverpool

Liverpools highest ever attendance falls way short of City. In fact we even had a higher attendance in Division 2 than their all time highest.

But yeah, we've got no history.

There is already some City supporters here. I very much doubt many will become new supporters just because of him, but who knows. Maybe when the current generation of kids grow up. Currently its 49% mancs, 49% rs and the rest is split between other clubs.

The counterargument is that you lifted the league title as many times as Burnley, Derby County and Portsmouth prior to the arrival of present ownership. You have the advantages of the cups and not having done all the time in the lower divisions that those clubs did.

Your club is a bit like the less attractive kid sister who aged much better than her hard-living, beauty queen sibling. Give it another five or ten years, and you're probably nailed on to have the kids think you were the beauty queen, and not her.

It's a better position to be in than ours, as the child beauty queen who suddenly got left in the dust by the ugly duckling younger sibling when puberty hit.

Ironically that's it the Johnny come latelies that make the accusations of no history against clubs.

City has been a big club from an area that has always been a football hotbed. Just because they were in the doldrums before the new stadium and takeovers doesn't make them small.

Also calling clubs big and small in general is quite small time. If we don’t have a sport where any club can ascend to the top given their performances merit it, then we don't have a fair sport.

Also if Haaland and City bring in European silverware then they'll really start converting the telly clapping plastics from the world over. I could easily see him at City until his career is virtually over.
