My uncle used to put ketchup and salad cream on his roasts. I still have traumatic childhood memories of sitting around the table at Christmas trying to stop myself from wretching at the sight of him scoffing down this awful curdled blend of salad cream, ketchup and gravy.
You are 100% correct about turkey.

Your Uncle should be in a prison in central Africa.

We had a roast dinner yesterday - chicken - and all agreed it was spot on. The freezer is stocked up with venison, duck and guinea fowl (guinea fowl currently reduced at Sainsbury's) so there will be further roasts in the next ten days....

Our family is extremely working class, but we do get good meat at Christmas. Decent turkey crown from a proper butchers, as well as good pigs in blankets. Makes all the difference.

Really love bubble smh squeak on boxing day too.

That somewhere near Rwanda mate?

As a matter of geography, yes. I would have accepted Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Gabon, Republic of Congo or the DRC though.

You're not defending the ketchup / salad cream combo mentioned by @longers , are you o_O
I saw a cheap shot and grabbed it with both hands. All apologies, this pesky cost of living crisis has me on the scent for blood...

(salad creme on anything but salad? what next, gravy on cornflakes?)

I bet there's some disgusting drive-thru chain in Arkansas that sells exactly that.

Anyway @Rita_Poon , have you ever tried guinea fowl as the poultry in a roast dinner? Delicious.
No us 'beaters' are welcomed onto the estate to flush out the birds for the lordships to shoot. Even better though is we get chased off the land before the birds are cooked so we don't even get a nose full of them cooking. Bread and water for us of commoner stock.

[guinea fowl, on a football forum, with someone clearly not pleased with the establishment, I admire your moxie sir/sire]

Guinea fowl is £7 per kilo in Sainsbury's mate. I don't think it gets shot in the UK.
