Known each other since they were 13, playing against each other in the Spanish Youth Leagues.
Became very good friends when Cruyff was at Man Utd and Martinez was at Wigan (when both were players). They lived near each other in Manchester and had keys to each others' house. Martinez was best man at Cruyff's wedding and is also godfather to Cruyff's son. Cruyff wrote the foreword to Martinez autobiography as well.

Cruyff himself is proving to be a decent manager. Just won the Israeli league for the second year in a row with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He'll probably wind up getting a better managerial job somewhere in Europe sooner rather than later.

cheers mate. wigan and united weren't exactly in the same place at the time regarding playing eachother ha, but yeah. just seems to me they would have been spending plenty of years apart in various countries in europe.
