"Europa League finally steps out from the shadows"

Fact is unless it closes the gap to a more realistic level on the CL then its nothing more than a drain on resources but gaining of european experience.

Thats its most important value really. One its getting the Everton name out there in European competition and two it gives the players and manager experience of European competition.

And we desperatly need that before we can even dream of doing anything in the Champions League.

Too many teams in the Europa Cup for my liking. They ought to cut the starting number in half and make it a bit more lucrative.

I am very much enjoying the Europa league matches plus it gives me the rare opportunity to see some of these pretty good clubs in the slightly smaller leagues that might otherwise never be on tv. Anderlecht for example.

This past round, I loved the 2nd leg matches of many matches vs some of the CL matches in which everything was sometimes played too conservatively.

Yeah, the last round has been entertaining. Great for the neutral.

But frankly, its still a deeply flawed competition. It needs to be knock out all the way, if you ask me, and I can't be having with champions leagues rejects ending up in it either. It should be one or the other.

Plus the winner should get CL football.
