Granted, but if there are people at Everton who think cups (and Europa League) are fair play to be written off, then its a poisonous attitude. I'd be amazed if this was shared by Ancelotti, a serial winner. We are hardly in a position to turn our noses up at anything offering a chance to win silverware.
Spurs were a great example in using the Europa League as a preparation and foretaste for bigger things. I'm sure they would have liked to win it, but even though they didn't it served more than a useful purpose.
We won't raise the standard of the squad and the experience levels of the players, by looking for credible excuses to hide from competing and make it sound (and I'm not atttribing the same attitude to you, at all) like having less games is a virtue in itself.
I get the concerns about impact on the squad but that should be looked upon as a challenge to be risen to.
The more games we have, the more successful in relative terms, and by definition, we become. Success should breed success.
