Having lived in the Birmingham area for the last 7 years.....I am too surrounded by Villa and Brum Fans. To make matters worse my current "ladyfriend" is a Villa fan.

Welcome to the Forum.

Wahey, hardcore. My old man's a dingle, tried to inculcate me into the ways of the Auld Gold lot. Dodged that bullet I feel!

Everyone I meet who knows Whitmore Reans enjoys telling me horror tales of violent crime
but I loved it there and never had any trouble. I liked a weed back then and used to mellow out watching their reserves sometimes.

Of course they do, the local rag (the mighty Express & Star) love focussing in on anything bad about the area. I'm sure it is fine, like about 85% of the West Mids the area is poor and run down. And everyone knows poor people are intrinsically violent.

Like I said I loved it there. I knocked round with sikhs, hindus, blacks, whites etc. and never experienced any of this "closed ethnic communities" that the media loves to portray, it's a great example of multiculturalism at work.

Yes, the reality of 'life on the ground' is very different to the picture the media like to paint. I'm a Black Country chap myself, so it drives me mad when idiots like the English Defence League bus in morons from other towns to 'protest' on the behalf of locals. Probably gone off topic a bit, like...

It's ok, the original topic was a bit of a cul-de-sac, you can only welcome someone once really.
The only trouble I ever saw was black on black, asian or asian or white on white. Curious really.
