Match Thread Everton 0-1 Aston Villa - Wednesday 15th January 19:30

The best combo I can think of for two up top is DCL and Beto. Depending on how it goes and how long they last affects subs later in the match. I’d even experiment with DCL and Armstrong as a combo.

Not sure how much influence Moyes can have on the game tomorrow given the short time he has had with the squad so difficult to predict what will happen tomorrow. What is certain is we need to start winning games. Make GP a horrible place to visit for opponents for the remainder of the last season at GP ;)

yes mate we need to win at home

A lot of blue tinted glasses on here reminiscing about the glorious Moyes era. I fear a poor result tomorrow or even a draw will stunt the tiny bit of momentum from a new manager boost. Look at Forest. Great manager, lifted the team.

And yet nobody wanted him when we were looking at him.

K’off Moyes, stop pretending this management thing is difficult.

We used to get a lot of our big results at home under him before. It seems the last few years that Goodison has been our bogey ground, hope he can change that for the remaining games.

I feel really excited and really nervous at the same time. I think about Moyes and how we were with him before and how games against Villa I would believe we could go in and win them. Then I remember how rubbish Dyche was and how we were brainwashed into thinking we couldn't beat anyone and get sad again.

Think we will see a much better performance and energy from the lads after Moyes put down the gauntlet in his conference/interview. UTFT!

3-5-2 with the wing backs (Patterson and Harrison?!?!) trying to stop crosses from Digne and Cash or whoever their right back is.

Ndiaye and DcL up top.
Duke or Lindstrom as the 3rd midfielder?

I do think Patterson will get more of a chance now.

At West Ham Moyes had Coufal going up and down the right touchline with the simple remit to be solid and get crosses in at the first opportunity for Antonio/Ings etc.

Would love to know what Moyes makes of Seamus still being an actual first team player rather than a coach at this point and I'm sure a man of his vast experience also realises Young offers very little past the halfway line now.

I think that will be the big selection tomorrow, Patterson starting. It's a risk with what Villa have in the final third but ultimately to stay up the team is going to have to be much more positive in mindset so I wouldn't have an issue with that type of selection.
