Many more of the occasional match going fan in attendance...
It is not because of that, I reckon the numbers of "occasional" match goers is at most a 1000 or so, if you look at previous attendences, and not all of them are passive and quiet. It is the general moodiness of Evertonians, it has been like that for ages. Goodison can rock in certain circumstances but is often quiet to be honest.

He has. But we would have a lot more points without Doucoure. Absolute liability. Cannot stand watching him and Harrison, but at least with Harrison, Moyes' hand is forced. Doucoure is self-inflicted.
"Absolute liability"... no, that is too much. We all know that he can be frustrating but he has bags of energy, never gives up, has a big heart, and some others in the team lack those things. He also pops up with crucial goals. Yes, we should upgrade but some of the stuff thrown at him is over the top. Many Evertonians do that, a player becomes a scapegoat and then others pile on.

I used to think Pickford was at best decent only at times.

Now I dont think we could do without him.

He's shut me and other critics up over the last 2 seasons or so.

I'm just amazed he's still with us.
"He's shut me and other critics up over the last 2 seasons or so". Well done for admitting it. A few others still won't. Same thing has happened in the media, some have turned, don't slag him, some even praise him now. Of course, our "lovable neighbours" and the Barcodes are still on him. That is not gonna change.

Most probably they way we play has something to do with it—-when we attacked with a bit of spirit and aggression the volume of sound increased noticeably after we scored the penalty and a few minutes after that, but mostly we were not very good and the crowd didn’t have a lot to inspire them.
Yes, and the Evertonian mindset. Many are a moaning lot and have high, unrealistic, expectations. Goodison is only really noisy when we feel aggrieved. It has been like that for ages.

No. He is a terrible player and costs us when we attack. You could say the exact same above about Jack Harrison (apart from goals). And as for goals - Doucoure has scored a couple of crucial ones over the years - but he causes the breakdown of so many attacks, I genuinely believe it is a significant net negative. He's only contributed 3 goals and 1 assist in 30 games and plays as an attacking midfielder.

By contrast, Alcaraz has a goal and an assist in 9, hasn't started many and gives so much to the team. He is young with high potential. He also works hard. Where's the negative?

You talk about what so many Evertonians do with scapegoating players. Let me tell you something else so many of us always do - sing the praises of really poor footballers who hold us back just because they run about a bit. That attitude has been held by many of our managers and is infecting Moyes now with Doucoure. It is one of the biggest reasons we have never got back to the top. Top sides would not accept such mediocrity. It's not just now when we are toward the bottom of the league - we've always had it.

In his couple of starts, Alcaraz linked up really well with Beto and helped create a few chances each game. Doucoure playing in that same role offers nothing and whoever is playing CF is left trying to create chance for themselves.

Disagree with almost everything you have said there. Must be great going the game with you. Ta mate.

Upon reflection of this week: The top two teams are not up to much, we largely matched them. The other teams above us must be relatively poor to allow those teams to be at the top.

Some judicial purchases and this renewed team ethic could see us take a significant step forward, especially next season when mostly we’ll be playing only once per week.

Such a poor first half of the season has cost us very dear.
