Apparently we were considering signing Joe Hart!
DAVID MOYES intends to head into the loan market in January to try and bolster his squad with two new faces on top of the capture of Landon Donavon from LA Galaxy.
But he will take time out from scouring the world for a central defender and midfield playmaker to concentrate on beating a keeper today he missed out on three years ago.
The Everton boss was tipped off about Joe Hart's potential but was unable to raise the cash to land him.
Hart went on to sign for Manchester City as a 17-year-old and is currently furthering his football education on loan at Birmingham.
Moyes said: "We knew him from Shrewsbury and we had an interest in him because their manager at the time, Gary Peters, was a friend of mine.
"He was my manager at Preston, and he was telling us he had a decent young keeper.
"We didn't take him and he went to Manchester City and did really well there.
"We watched him a little bit but it didn't go any further than that. He went for £700,000, it was a fee at that time which was more than we could deal with.''
Moyes does not expect the highly-rated shot-stopper to force his way into England's World Cup plans even if he does have a storming end to the season.
He added: "It might not be this one for Joe Hart but I can see him being around the England squad in the future. It might just not be this World Cup for him.''
