Control your angst, were just one result away from completely writing off the season before the end of January as Chelsea pay a visit in the FA Goblet.
The only consistency of Everton this season has been their ability to frustrate and disappoint even the more optimistic of blues. Another week, another game against supposed easier opposition where we **** ourselves and end up with a point or less.
Moyes himself made reference to the Tottenham win being easier as they came to attack which allowed an open game for us to exploit so you'd think that Chelsea will come with the same attacking intent, despite being on a ****ty run for quite a few games now. It is however a game that few of us are anticipating wildly.
The media are all lining up to write obituaries for modern day Chelsea, and Ancelotti - like John Travolta's fat uncle - appears to be treading on thin ice. This is apparently coupled with Abramovich having some rouble problems where Putin has unleashed ten wild bears to hunt him down or SMERSH to reprimand him in the gulag. They're meant to be signing that ace Benfica centre half for 24 million tomorrow like.
They have a team full of quality who on their day could bum us with ease, like in the 2009 final of this same competition. With us having the confidence of a fat kid with braces this means an early goal could make it painful.
But let us sip from the glass of positivity for a wee while. Saha should be back for this one as Anichibe and Beckford up front looked frankly horse ****. Saha and Beckford looked promising for a couple of games before so they may start. Bily's goal on the weekend may earn him a starting place and a real goal threat which our current midfielders lack a bit. Fellaini has generally been boss for over a month now but next to him lies a problem. Arteta is playing gash, really gash. Rodwell or Osman could feature instead.
In amongst the sound of gnashing teeth post West Ham game, our vulnerability in defence was overlooked but there's obviously something wrong if West Ham are striding through your defence like that. Anyway, Jagielka is fit so we'll see. I'm not much of a critic of Tim Howard but he does seem ace at diving and getting nowhere near the ball. It's like when you were eleven and the school puts you in full size nets.
A defeat here plummets us into a dark place were eager to avoid again this season. It's no easy feat but we need to turn up on the day and play as we can. We've done well in the past few games against Chelsea and this needs to continue or that prospect of a extremely ****ty season is going to be screaming full on in our face.
It should have done so much better, sort it out Ebepton.
