The only game I saw in it's entirety was the MLS Cup Final, and although he scored he didn't seem to do too much else in the game. Hopefully you are right and he was just a bit rusty.
In the playoff games leading up to the final everyone was wondering what was going on as he was clearly not quite "on." Looked slower, passes were slightly off target. He wasn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but he was clearly struggling. This year was not a good one for him starting during the Gold Cup - turns out he's had various injuries this year.
The MLS Cup Final he was running unencumbered and made some great combinations and passing plays. In watching with Galaxy fans we all said he looked much different than in previous weeks - good off the ball runs, pace, etc.
But it wasn't until the December friendlies that he just looked like he had his legs back - Bruce Arena literally said exactly that. He said Everton would benefit as Landon essentially took almost the entire month of October off to recover from injury. Then three weeks in December. He just looked healthy - something even the ratings at MLS.com noticed when grading the MLS Cup Final.
Seems like it based on quotes from here and now training as well. We're getting him fully rested and raring to go. I have no idea why Moyes wouldn't utilize that.
