One of my sons, Evertonian of course, has already more or less given up on football and watches rugby union where the refs are excellent and all decisions explained.
Can't understand why refs have to go over to a tiny monitor in the PL that's about 2 feet off the ground when there are big screens in stadiums. I know it's not to set fans off etc but it still makes no sense

And the ref gave it. Pen should have stood. Not 5 minutes of fannying about behind the scenes discussing it.
The pen for me could have gone either way. VAR should not be interfering unless an obvious and blatant miscarriage of justice is about to happen.
Yip if it's taking them that long to decide it can't be a clear and obvious error by the ref

End of game var decision favouring united like it did when Ancelotti got a red card. These last minute var decisions always seem to go United's way. That Brighton one being another example when Maguire flapped his arms around and var gave it after the full time whistle was blown

If it wasn't given originally, you say okay. The refs missed De Ligts pull. You are still fuming but there is the benefit of a doubt to the refs there. They can't spot everything. It was given. They intentionally show him the wrong angle to influence his call. He didn't ask questions and even though you could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt he wasn't fouled, they overturned it. The ref just decided it was easier to take the fall from us than them. Pure and simple.

Ludicrous situation for this to be part of the game. Ludicrous. VAR should be what i thought it was for. Massive and glaring errors.
