Everton 2 Whoever 3 - again!

Yes, football is a game where the score isn’t final until the end.
Liverpool were also 3-0 up against Crystal Palace with around 15 minutes to go looking like they’d win the league before slippy and spitty retired too once…
I’m sure if I supported another team I’d be able to come up with some embarrassing ones over the years too. You’ve literally picked like 10 games from the clubs existence like this is a regular occurrence.
It's worth pointing out that, although we all massively enjoyed Crystalbul the comeback didn't make a lot of difference as they needed to put something like 10 past Palace to have a shot at overtaking City. In the end, although embarrassing, it made little difference and perhaps that's the point. If you fail when failure has little consequence you can argue you died fighting. Everton - all too often - fail when it does have consequences.

Correct - we implode (Newcastle 2-0, 2-2) whereas others do not. Game Management, whatever but we manage to blow it all to often and 3-2 defeats are common fodder.
Interesting article on Football365 this evening. Since Jan 2021 we have scored first and then been pegged back 7 times. In those games, we’ve gone on to win 1, draw 3 and lose 3. The one we won was under Carlo, FYI.

So when we’re not conceding first (from which position we find it hard to rally and get a result), we’re imploding at the first sign of adversity even when we get the upper hand initially.

It is hard to think of a more mentally fragile team ever to have graced the Premier League.

It's the 2005 Champions League Final ... and that lot come back from 0-3, 1-3, 2-3.. and yeah 3-3 (to penalties)

12 Months later they are 2-3 down to West Ham in the FA Cup Final... and the rest you know!!

And no doubt, lots of other clubs have these triumphs.

But us, on the other hand, have a history littered with 3-2 defeats (well, ok, one big exception in the 1966 FA Cup Final). There's a 3-2 aggregate defeat to Man Utd in the Fairs Cup. There's the 3-2 defeat to Forest in the 6th Round (1967, were 2-0 up). There's a 2-3 at Anfield in 1971 (and we're winning that 2-0, of course) There's Carlisle (2-0 up) and Sheff Utd (2-0 up) in 1974-1975 going for the title. There's the 1977 League Cup Final - Bryan Little breaks our hearts.. There's the 1989 FA Cup Final, I'd rather forget about. There's the painful season opener to Leeds (Big Nev on the post at half-time, 0-3 down). There's Chelsea and Frank/Didier turning us over from 2-1 up. There's Ashley Young doing us 3-2 at Goodison when he should have been red carded. There's Palace in 2014 when Bobby Brown Shoes and the boys are chasing 4th (and, just to add pathos to that, my Dad died 5 days before the game).

And then there's today - 2-1 up and running out of steam..

When, oh when, are we going to learn - or even be a little lucky?
You didn't mention the McAllister Derby of 2001, one of THE most painful 3-2 defeats.

It’s worth pointing out we got to see that horrible get Luis Suarez cry on camera, like properly weep, after years of doing everything in his power to win at all costs

i am not sure i can do this justice.. this 3-2 triumph after so many 2-3 failures but here goes quite apart from the spooky comparison with wimbledon 3-2 including a ludicrous messto go 2 down and a fightback involving a segers flap from butland and other lucky goals for us.. but here's two more incredible coincidences 1. i was with my son pre match and there we sang old everton songs in the crowd. my contribution being the 1966 refrain about giving the owls a 2 goal start reprised as it was on a lovely thursday in the lovely month of may that we all went to goodison to see the toffees play there was alex, young gordon too and we played in royal blue and we gave the eagles two goal start but we still won 3-2
