If we had their derby form, I'd be massively confident too.

Just hoping Martinez can start to turn it around...

Exactly, it's like us with City. Many in the preview thread this year or them away were predicting at least a draw, I don't think anyone thought losing was a possibility, and this is a champions league team away, not a team that finished 7th last year at home.

Yeah, it was mostly O'Keeffe's spin, but Ossie is old enough and experienced enough to know handing out interviews like that just before a Derby is counterproductive...or can be. As you said: do your gloating about being on top after you win the game.

I really cant tolerate this feller now, tbh. He's not only not good enough for us (not his fault, like, he's just not got the ability we need to give us performances for 90 minutes), but I think his attitude is iffy. His statements since Martinez arrived suggest someone determined to pull the 'senior' player routine and sound almost bemused when he's left out of a starting line up. He's lucky to have a contract signed up to 2015 - thanks to his old manager.

i thought what he said was good, just need the players to back it up on the pitch now, him included.

can't argue with the second paragraph though

What really, really worries me is the game panning out in a similar fashion to spurs two weeks ago. I.e we seem to sleep walk our way through the first 30 min affording them loads of time and space on the ball. Most teams score in those circumstances, was just blind luck Spurs wasn´t able to. Remember Spurs players looking miffed trying to understand what Everton were up to in that first half.

My concern today is if we don't switch it, and continue to attempt to bring the ball out from the back in the manner we have all season. We can't afford to do that here, they'll pressure high up and Suarez will have a field day intercepting.

Can see the exact same thing happening. Definitely.

On a positive note, after a decade long **** run of results against them under Moyes, things can only get better.

Think another big one is linking with Lukaku. Past two games Osman just doesn't work well off him.

Barkley has more energy and pace and is the better option. If not, we'll struggle like the past few weeks.

This IS going to happen for the most part. Martinez's comment midweek that this wasn't the biggest challenge of the season so far indicates he'll see it no differently than Chelsea or Spurs tipping up at Goodison. He's determined to get this team playing better against all opposition - no exceptions.

I'm with you though: for a Derby all bets are off and you take nothing off the table. They certainly wont be setting up that way. They'll be using Gerrard to go long all day and play transitional football when they require it.
