Everton and the ITKs in 2016

It's weird. I do get some ITK stuff but seldom share it on the transfer thread as any decent info is asked to be kept pretty private. Yet there's a load of lids not on the wind up genuinely staking a claim to transfer info.

The club locked up shop in terms of info a few years ago, since Moyes left. How many times do you hear about the starting line up the night before the game anymore?

I was with a couple of Everton staff in prominent positions this week for a pint and neither of them knew anything about transfers. Nor would I expect them to, if they did then the club are doing it wrong, there's no more competitive market in sport than the Premier League and player recruitment is vital to the margins which deliver success. If it was getting leaked from the club (agents are another story) then you would be stamping that out. They do read the forums you know.

It doesn't make any difference if you know before we sign anyone so why not save yourself the obsessing and wait until they're in front of the Finch Farm tiles all confirmed? The transfer rumour thing was something started by Rupert Murdoch, you're helping perpetuate it.

And this right here is the reason anyone claiming to be ITK on here actually isn't, because if someone was giving a person on this site genuine info about who we're chasing then it'd be shut down very quickly.

Either the people pretending to be ITK on here are making it up, or they're being fed false positive info to help keep the feel good and expectations high for the club.

I don't wish to degrade the name of anybody on here, but personally I don't think things like the below make for a positive forum experience. They lead to false hopes and then fuel arguments and disagreement between posters. This has been prevalent since talk of Witsel and Mata began and has continued whenever 'ITK' information has been posted.

I'm not commenting on the character of @The Esk at all. I simply believe information can be wrong and that sometimes it is best not to pass things on in such a volatile environment.

After Martins Indi was linked in the media:

Both Indi and Williams likely in the next 24 hours, which assuming they complete, would confirm Stones to City.

On Witsel:

Yes, as said last night, he's ours, just a question of the timing

Plus esk did mention announcement within 24 hours re Witsel, and Mata this week, maybe just maybe they have got it wrong this time?, no sleight on esk at all and totally greatful for all info he gives, but sources can get things wrong

Not on this occasion though :)

On the 19th of July:

I don't think the Monchi book has been closed at all - was very much left in his hands. That level of compensation would not be an issue I believe.

On the very same day the news broke of Steve Walsh to Everton. There had not been much if anything in the way of Walsh talk on the forum before that date, as far as i'm aware ?

As Goat said. The majority if not all of the players we have signed have broken in the media, and were not shown up on forums or Twitter by ITKs first.

It has been incredibly tiring coming on here and reading people sniping at each other about transfers happening or not happening for weeks on end, all based largely on whether information is legitimate or not. That's why I'm in support of the idea that 'ITK' information just shouldn't be posted, because it creates hassle for the person posting it and can frustrate and upset fans who just want to see us do well. The reality is if we're going to sign somebody, we will sign somebody. Knowing about it a few days earlier won't make much of a difference.

I think this is all fair comment.
