I've always maintained it's all cicrumstantial and we have to make our own judgment on it. That lad has merely reiterated what I've been saying. 100% proof on a football forum...that's the highest of bars that no supporter can get over. Debate is all we have. Correct?

Absolutely and to demand 100% proof or it hasn't happened is ridiculous. You could turn round and say where is the proof that we haven't had a bid and you couldn't prove that either. But there is circumstantial evidence and the fact that the Club didn't come out and deny the BBC report says a lot I think. If the BBC report was untrue then why not come out, go on the record and say so.

Is it though? I mean if someone is going to say that it's happened, asking for a source/reference to that would be the next logical step would it not? Unless they clarified that they are inferring that a bid has happened based on what you laid out above? In which case, they wouldn't have that sort of evidence would they?

Not to put you off but I'm not sure you were privy to the original conversations in terms of what was being stated as fact and what was asked for to back those facts up.

Unless Davek and I have had some giant misunderstanding.

If you had ever said your commmentary on the club rejecting bids of the club was circumstantial, we'd have never had the conversation/debate/argument etc.... I'm not thick enough (or Texan enough according to some) to think that there hasn't been the possibility of a bid for the club. But what kind of bid? If Kenwright turned down a bid that most would think realistic (he gets his money back/and or more and the club debts are taken care of, Moyes has money to spend, etc..., then we would all rightly be upset, myself included. I'm not talking about a bid where someone offers one pound for the club and to wipe the debts away and all of the shareholders are wiped out. That's not realistic, as much as we might like that to happen.

I agree with much of what he says (he laid it out very well).

It's all circumstantial. How could it not be? I'm not privvy to details to the nth degree about EFC. It's all informed guesswork that provides the fuel for debate.

If you're telling me we got into a hubbub all because of semantics (circumstantial vs. iron-clad), then that's really unfortunate, for the both of us.

I think this is true and you need to go after Matt Damon who causes all the trouble around here.

(EDIT: And yes, you're correct, debate is all we have. Opinions and debate are what makes the forum what it is.)

Fair enough I think, hopefully something in the near future will happen and we won't have to be talking about circumstantial evidence.

Okay I get the point you are making, no obviously you can't state these things as facts. You can only look at the evidence that you can see as a supporter and draw conclusions.

One more Lerner/Villa reference and he's "adiosed" :P

I'd like to ask a few questions to the financial fanatics here:

1. What is this loan for? To run the club? Not to finance a buy.
2. Are we screwed?
3. Is it a good thing or a bad thing that we've effectively borrowed money from a shareholder?

The pay off comes in a sale of shares in a takeover.

Yet you consistently bemoan the fact that the shareholders are (apparently in your mind) asking for too much money for the sale of the club which would help them realize a profit on their shares.

Bill, if you remember we had dialogue in the Kewnright board thread and then you closed it down because you were adamant I had no evidence of serious bids for the club - evidence most people would accept as being strong. Is it really worth debating again in this thread?

Evidence cannot be classed as strong or otherwise. Evidence is evidence. A confirmation of something. A declaration, a demonstration. Testimony. It appears to me a somewhat churlish heelturn by utilising the 'evidence' pleas you have been so villified for ignoring.

You sly dog. 'Debate', I have had a trawl through you posts and I have a checklist of the things you post. As predictable as a Hibbert crossfield pass. Sorry Dave, you have been pushing a very specific 'party line' with a few other clan members for quite some time. Love the change of tactics though. Commendable for effort, creativity and sheer bloodymindedness. + Rep!
