Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

While what he said was slightly arrogant I feel people are getting too worked up about it. What did he say that was so controversial?

He blatantly lied, saying he'd have accepted £28m for the pair.
He outrageously said Everton are 'holding back the careers of Fellaini & Baines'.
He arrogantly undermined our current manager by repeatedly saying he 'knows how Everton works' and that 'he bought all our players' - both statements true, but said in this context in order to put Martinez in his place and justify his own actions.

To turn on your former club, in which you spent 11 years, in such a manner, just 3 months after leaving, is just appalling. I've never, in 34 years of being an Everton fan, ever seen this before.

This has to be the least transfer activity that United have had since 95/96 when their only signing was Coton for £506k! It's quite ironic that he went to United expecting to buy the World's best and he hasn't been able to spend a penny.

Maybe it's true that United are tightening their belts and they appointed Moyes because he's adept at working on a limited budget as well as the fact that he wouldn't cost any compensation.

He's already warned the Old Trafford faithful that their might not be any signings this window. Is he floundering already? Is he so worried about making a mistake in the transfer market that he dare not sign anybody? Do the top players want to play for him? Has Woodward told him that they won't go any higher than £28m and this is a last, desperate ploy? Are Baines and Fellaini really the answers for them?

It's all very strange. Will Rooney continue to play with a sulk? What if something happens to Van Persie?

Only time will tell mate. I'm sure he'll develop the likes of Smalling, Jones and the defensive players but as big Nev put it, he has a reputation of playing negative football. Imagine Chelsea playing at OT and all 10 Utd players in their own half when defending corners or when Mata or Hazard attack. Would that be the kind of setup in which Fabregas, Ozil or whoever the hell they are linked with would wanna play?

If Spurs, ****e, Southampton have spent over the valuation then Moyes might as well bugger off with his 28M.

I think the best way for us is that the fans be extremely expressive in their appreciation towards Baines and Felli at Goodison.

I will just leave this here for now ->

1 ) Everton bent over backwards to help Moyes join United. Utd needed to announce to US stock market 2 weeks before season finished - which Kenwright allowed as a gesture of goodwill.

2 ) Moyes stated he would not take backroom staff with him. Everton even offered a player coach role to Neville.

3 ) A day after taking over at United - Utd requested Round Lumsden and Woods. All 3 were under contract. Everton advised they would have to pay compo for them. United cam back with a pathetic offer - I forget the figures - but it was like £10k for Lumsden £20k for Round etc. After bending over backwards to accomiadate Utd, it was disgusting.

4 ) A few weeks later - Moyes rings Kenwright to say he is going to bid for Bainsey. Kenwright tells him he is not for sale ( Moyes and Kenwright still get on ). The day after a bid for £8m arrives from Utd. It includes a bonus of £100k if they win the Champions League !!!! Kenwright rings Moyes to tell him what is going on after their conversation. Moyes blames it on the suits behind the scenes at Utd in control off the purse strings.

5 ) Last week Moyes asks Kenwright how they feel about a bid for baines and Fellaini. Given short shrift. Then the pathetic joint bid arrives. Kenwright reminds Moyes that he has sat in mutiple board meetings with Moyes when he has categorically stated that they must not sell for less than £30m !!!! Moyes says that was when he had his Everton hat on !!

6 ) The Fellaini buy out clause clicks in at the start of every transfer window, so it is likely he will go if the bid is higher than the expired buy out clause. Mccarthy from Wigan is lined up to replace. No need to sell anybody for the first time in a long time.

7 ) There is an old football rule that states if you leave a club as a player and dont get fixed up at another - you are paid an extra months wage. It dates back to the days when footballers had mortgages to pay etc. Phil Neville was offered a player / coach job at Everton. Took up a coaching job at United. His lawyer has sent Everton a letter looking for his £200k !!! He is the only player for years that has asked for this ( Everton are not paying it )

8 ) Takeover deal has fallen through.

9 ) Martinez wants Barry but he earns £120k at City !!!!!

Some very interesting points mate, thanks for posting.

Erm....do what?

If we sell, it would have to be a good price to save face for the club.

Wrong. If Everton sell to United now after what has taken place before then it is business as usual for Bill and his band of invisible cronies, Roberto will then have little doubt that Everton bend over and get shafted without question nor gesticulation when United come into view

It's just morally wrong that a man who throws his hand in with another club 'to better himself' gets to do anything other than walk right into his office get his sh*t in a bag and walk straight out of the club. That he could remain and call the shots for two months after he decided to frig off was a humiliation to this football club...and it set the tone for the way he's behaving now.

Like bj said, spot on mate, and I would (personally) have ensured no conflict of interest and the integrity of the clubs' intellectual property by walking him straight out.
What i'm saying is in retrospect, BK's gushing has now given us the moral high ground, whether intentional or otherwise :)

Yay more baseless speculation.

Was always concerned when Moyes left that his sainted image among some might haunt us as the ghost of Benitez splits kopites.

With each passing day his utterances have reduced that likelihood - this Daily Mail piece nails it.

Someone questioned the veracity of the piece, remember papers don't want to be banned from Utd but more pertinently Moyes is a litigious man. Impuning his reputation as this clearly does with Evertonians would have denials all round the place and lawyers rubbing their hands with glee - I've heard no denial.

Yay more baseless speculation.

Possibly but if someone knows something, I'd rather they posted it than not.

If he was on a wind up I doubt he'd have gone to that much trouble.

I could easily see 3 and 7 happening, given there were big delays in them coming to post at Utd.

ANY sale to them would be terrible for our image, and the mood of the club would quickly turn (against the board hopefully).

Reaction of Roberto would be interesting. Doubt he'd sulk in public like Moyes did which would be an improvement.
