So opinions on the published accounts only.

Everton financials for 2014 show intangible fixed asset additions of 31 mio. McCarthy was 13mio I'm imagining that the loaning (fees) of Barry, Lukaku and deulofeu contribute maybe 4 million ...can anyone enlighten/remind me as to what the other 14mio is comprised?

Possibly some expense in compensation for Martinez?
Not the entire 14 million though

...compensation/increased contracts would pass through staff cost account
Ah right. Am not hugely clued up on the financial aspect of things despite my maths being decent.
My expertise is injuries and the human body.

Could it be deferred payments of other transfer deals in the past?
14 million still seems a lot however.
Did you include Kone, Robles and Alcaraz?

Thanks ...forgot Kone and Robles...easy to do!!

Can someone confirm when a season's TV revenue for a club actually hits that club's bank account...is it the first day of August following season's conclusion?

Often agent fees comprise a significant amount as well and aren't considered part of the transfer fee as such.
Would that too also be listed under that part of the accounts?

good point...football financials are waaay unique

Good to see an interest in the finer details of the accounts.

The accounting of the value of player registrations is slightly less opaque than you are considering.

Each registration is booked in taking to account the total cost of acquisition including agent fees etc. This appears as an intangible asset on the balance sheet.

Each asset is then amortised over the life of the contract.

So in the 2014 accounts they start with the previous year's net book value, they add in acquisitions (31 million as you mentioned) and reduce by the amortised figure of each player disposal.

They then further reduce this figure by the total amortisation of all players contracts over the year to arrive at a net book value for the total playing staff (the intangible assets)

There is a further revision of asset value if a players contract is extended to reflect the newly revised contract life (length)

The figures are in item 10 of the accounts

Hope I am not teaching grandmother to suck eggs :)

@the esk many thanks for your response. What do you reconcile to being the 31 mio in intangible fixed asset additions (McCarthy, Kone, Robles and ???). Also, the profit on player sales figure was 28.2mio. Am I to deduce from this that Fellaini, Anichebe and Jelavich had residual (amortised) book value of 9.8 mio (since 38mio was the gross (cash) sales number, if I recall). And lastly, when is the season's TV revenue actually paid into a club's bank account? Thanks in advance

Will need to look at the accounts later mate, I'm out at the moment.

I have a copy of the broadcasting revenues agreement between PL and the clubs, will check later also.
