Everton FC - Finances

Probably a slight of hand in that when a player is sent out on loan the home club of the player continues to pay their wages and will in turn invoice the club where the player is on loan
So say for the likes of RL his wages will actually have been paid by Chelsea and any fee charged by them to Everton is probably shown in operating costs which from memory went up by quite a large amount
Ok when it comes to FFP submissions adjustments are made but we don't get shown these forms
...they went up 4.5mio, so it's possible. But Everton's wages to revenue are nowhere near knocking on FFP doors/scrutiny, so why the sleight of hand?

Two reasons

One . The PL version of FFP only allows for wage growth of £5 million pa unless any additional growth is supported from revenue sources other than the increased TV income. Other operating costs can be funded from any source. as I said we have no idea what Everton will have shown on its UEFA licence application nor indeed what the PL rules are regarding this
Two . A lower % of wages is a good news story

There's the PL FFP regulations, which prohibit wage bills increasing by more than £4m per annum, if the incremental cash isn't created from anything other than TV revenue increases.

. Could it possibly be a 'revaluation' of existing assets e.g player(s) who have come through the academy / U21s into the first team now with a contract / value that is now considered amortisable?

Possibly but I doubt it given there is a specific reference in the accounts to the lack of value attributed to home grown talent rising through the ranks.

This is a thread with the specific aim of only discussing Everton's finances.

The discussions should centre on previously published accounts and future accounts.

Board related discussion in the Board thread please.

So opinions on the published accounts only.

It may be helpful to point the novices in the general location of said published accounts, it would be the gentleman's thing to do, however, I myself am no gentleman....

Meaning cba...

Other Expenses (other operating costs) increased from 11.7M in 2007 to 21.1M in 2008, and have since continued at this higher level with increases.

Can those with business knowledge confirm whether chairmen/large shareholders of limited companies would normally make it their business to know the composition of these costs and rationale for the increase ?

Yes in normal circumstances they would.
