No, it's a pretty good predictor of how many points a team gets at an aggregate level. But it is of course correlated with other variables, but even adjusted for this I mean to remember, that it was one of the most robust variables. Especially if we separate the proportion of long balls, and measure teams that preferably use short passes.

Not saying you have to be passing it for the sake, and I like going direct to DCL, whatever gets us point is best but most of our players don’t have a clue how to build an attack when they have the ball. West Brom and Southampton we nearly drew in injury time because we couldn’t keep the ball in their half for a minute or two. My only worry is eventually that luck that offsides go 6 inch the other way, or they don’t miss, hits the post and goes in will go against us.

We’ve not had too many wins past few months where we’ve looked comfortable (Liverpool but even then Pickford still had to have a very good game).

I reckon the majority of our supporters have no idea what our possession stats are.

What is an interesting stat is that there are only 6 teams with more points than us and they've all played at least an extra game than we have.

The games where we have had more possession we have often lost this season.

El Fraudo was obsessed with them.
Pass sideways across the back and midfield is truly a borefest.
To be fair to the RS , Klopp tried to get away from the obsession by getting the ball from back to front quickly.
Once Carlo has his "own" players in place via Brands , we should have the ideal blend i.e. possession and rapid movement.
