It’ll be a far better barometer of where we are as a squad than previous matches although again, whatever the result, it’s nothing more than still pre-season.

Seems to be the trend of this preseason, besides ourselves and United playing each other, the other all Prem friendlies this weekend are Newcastle v Norwich, Palace v Watford (who also play Udinese at home) and Spurs v Arsenal.

Apart from City and Leicester who are at Wembley for the Shield, the other clubs in friendly action look like this

Wolves v Celta (today, same time as us)
Burnley v Cadiz (today)
Southampton v Bilbao (today)
West Ham v Atalanta (today)
Brentford v Valencia (today)
Brighton v Getafe (today)
Leeds v Villarreal (today)
Liverpool v Bilbao (tomorrow)

Only Villa (who were due to play Sevilla) and Chelsea aren’t in friendly action this weekend
