So we are moving on an experienced French international left back who is loved at the club because Benitez has fallen out with him and replacing him with a Ukranian youngster with potential? When we actually need a RIGHT BACK?!!? Benitez isn't inspiring confidence in his first window with full control is he?

That pretty well sums it up.

The transition from Baines to Digne is about the only think the club has gotten correct in the last few years. Seems they now want to mess that up too.

He even signed a contract earlier this year. It's madness backing a has been flump like Benitez. Where is he going to take us? What in his career post Liverpool suggests he will build anything here? He is a dinosaur.

I think competition for a left back is something that should be persued but it's not imperative to the extent of acquiring a right back since the current one's skills and physical state are rapidly unraveling on a weekly basis.

Honestly we should be opting for loans with an option to buy. Just to minimize risk and if a sacking occurs in the near future it doesn't derail the squad for years. But I do think January signings this season are vital, our squad is just incredibly deficient and injury prone to sustain itself for the rest of the season
