Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

I think that will be the plan, delph is gone soon, Gbamin probably goes on loan. And im
Sure the club will be looking for offers for both Davies & Gomes. The problem is injury to Allan or Doucoure and we Could be in big trouble for the rest of the season
If we can get rid of any, I'm sure we'll get a couple in, at least on loan.

The Echo are also citing a report that originated from Italy (via Footballfancast, yup crap source) that we’re interested in Sampdoria’s Gambian CB Omar Colley, he’s 6”3 and left footed. The report says he’s just changed agent to push for a move to the Premier League. What I think is interesting though is that according to Transfermkt he has the same agent as Iddrisa Baba that we’ve also been linked to and RB apparently wanted to sign for R.Madrid. The agent also represents Koulibaly who RB signed for Napoli so perhaps there is a connection with the agent? Or it’s blah blah to generate interest.
He’s 29 though. I know that’s not dead old for a CB, but would be a risk and a costly one if it goes wrong

We may well lose two of those in this window or next(Holgate and Mina), if we were to sign one more and also bring Reece Welch in as fifth defender we would be reasonably well covered.

I actually like Tarkowski at Burney. Nothing fancy at all about him, a solid defender who doesn't really worry if it is the man or the ball he kicks.
Out of contract in a few months and still only 29.
He'll be asking for big wages, not worth it for us these days, we have enough players in that bracket already.

We have 5 centre halves and 5 central midfielders. We don't need to buy any more until we get rid of some.
And of these 5 CBs, three need to leave (Mina, Keane and Holgate). Equally, three of the CMs are not good enough (Delph, Gbamin, Gomes) and should be punted.

We absolutely need a new CB and a new CM, urgently. Selling some of the existing ones and bringing in new ones should be simultaneous.

Again you’re buying a defender who play a certain system. I know at this moment we’re a playing a defensive system, but going forward you’d hope a new manager will won’t to change that.

True but if we’re looking to sell Mina and/or hopefully Keane we’re going to need a more experienced CB to play alongside Godfrey/Branthwaite/Welch

At the start of the 23/24 season of the first team players we have now. I can only see Godfrey and Branthwaite still here as CB’s and Doucoure the only midfielder left.

I agree, but if we can't sell any of them we shouldn't buy anyone.

Dave given the run of games and the fact its worse than Mike Walker years, you are flogging what should be a dead horse!

He is tactically and people inept at doing his job and really this goes for all that are working for him too!, Ferguson should have piped up long ago and as far as we now has just towed the line, this guy will take us down!
What's that divvy got to do with anything?

Why im
Not a big fan of Keane, I think I’d rather keep him at 29 as a back up, than take a gamble on a 29yr old that’s never played in this league. And will there be much difference in the price. Clubs abroad love to fleece English clubs.

Better the devil you know and all that

Except we know Keane's limitations, and he's currently at his peak.
Nothing wrong with bringing in an older player if the wages are okay, so long as it ends up being like a Distin or Barry. Needs to have a spotless injury record pretty much.

Looks like Maitland-Niles is on his way to Roma on loan, as per Romano on Twitter.

I actually wouldn't have minded him as an extra option on the right, at an acceptable price mind.
Yes he can play full back, wing back both sides and in midfield. I’d still take him in the summer if he’s available. Have Roma got an obligation? As he’s only a year left in the summer.

He would be a good squad player

I’d risk it, we’ve seen enough of Keane to know he’s not fit for purpose, up there with Delph, Iwobi and Tosun on my must get rid of list.
