Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

Why is everyone so stressed about getting a player on loan that scored 10 goals last season. not a bad deal at all. No outlay that possibly gives us more cash to spend elsewhere.

I think the concern is Dave, that the 500m has been preverbially flushed down the toilet on established players one at a time. We just dont seem to learn.
Look at the signings so far: it's a mixed bag of younger and established: PL experienced and non-PL experienced...and the cost has been kept down in terms of fees atm to below £40M for 6 players.

That divvy Brands would spend that on one rubbish player.

Yeah I hope this one doesn't happen like.

Would love Johnson from Notts Forest now thats a player.
I just don't think wing is a priority right now. Give Dobbin a chance if the injuries hit, rather than anything like this, and then yeah go and put proper money and planning into it in the summer. Whether Bentiez wants to play 3 in midfield or 2 (he wants to play 2, like) we need another midfielder

Gawd don't go all Sky footy and just talk about the gross spend, there is such a thing net spend. Still high like but now where near the half billion the knobs in media harp on about.

Indeed, and even our net spend doesn't all come out of Moshiri's pocket. It's also over five years for Christ sake, how much have the other prem clubs spent over the past five years? If we spend next to nothing for the next two years, the media will still be saying "they've spent half a billion pound".

Ha Ha Ha.

Half a billion flushed down the toilet by his predecessors and Benitez (having come up trumps with just £1.7M for Gray and Townsend) is guilty of paying too much for an established PL player at £15M.
You can take this strange approach with every poster if you want. You are quick to put the knife in with every manager we have ever had, apart from Martinez, but seem to love Benitez. Why is this?

You can travel back through my posts on here if you wish to see that when we signed Gray and Townsend, I said it was smart business. However, I said Begovic was awful and I stand by it. Rondon is finished and I am pleased with the signings of Patterson and Mykolenko. El Ghazi is at best average and we need potential and/or quality.

However, the damage Benitez is doing goes far beyond the signings. How you can defend someone setting up the side the way he does is beyond me. The football is every bit as bad as under Ancelotti and Allardyce, only we conceed for fun. He sets up with 2 in midfield ensuring we are overrun and makes bizarre selections. He annoys everyone he has to deal with and his management will ensure we lose all of the few existing good players we have.

He has always been a poor manager and a bell and his legend rests almost entirely on a couple of lucky cup wins nearly 2 decades ago.

We know that money was wasted before. That in itself does not give him carte blanche - if anything it means he has to get everything right to sort out the mess and he is miles away from doing this.

Get off that red high horse and accept that we have legitimate concerns and stop being contrary.
