Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

Some good business done this window. Like January, carried out with no extravagant fees in PL terms (and positively frugal for this club in the last few drunken sailor years). And it's not over yet.

Looking ahead to the summer: Richarlison out should do it for finances. Get him down thre road for £80M and spend wisely again on hard working players with a bit of talent. A success rate of 2 out of 3 signings will be the hoped for effect.

This is the piecemeal recovery of Everton Football Club we are in the process of witnessing.
A good Window as far as I’m concerned would be a solid central mid and a solid central defender! Bit underwhelming so far, can’t see how we have improved when we are getting dragged into a relegation scrap, thought we needed an urgent injection of a little ready to play first team players

Because they were phrased differently: Digne made it ALL about the manager for his move to Villa, whereas Golvin says merely that he likes Benitez.

I hope this clarifies it for you...though it was pretty obvious really.
I am clearly not as practiced as you in the subtle art of deciphering the nuance in footballers’ generic transfer platitudes.

As always I bow to your wizardry.

I agree on the CB. We desperately need a dominant CB in. However, the FB situation needed sorting. I'm doubtful on Patterson as a defender, but I've said before that his delivery from out wide is good and he should beef up the attack. And Digne has been tripe for ages. This lad Mykolenko will strengthen us no problem in defence.

Full back purchases are more for the future as far as I’m concerned, not a ready made problem solution

I've been of the opinion for quite a while that Mina isn't particularly arsed about playing for us, we just get him ready for his beloved internationals. If he had a good contract offer from any half decent team in Spain or Italy he'd be off like a shot.
Pretty sure that’s why he’s not signed a new contract - he’s had his eye on a move for a while. Should have gone all out to sell him in the summer if he wouldn’t commit.

Re Patterson you are not getting anything close to the finished article at 20. That was the same age Coleman broke through and he could not defend and I believe he went out on loan to Blackpool for a season before being slowly integrated. Although I am not against buying young players I think we will be looking at Coleman and Godfrey as first choice fullbacks for the remainder of the season unfortunately.
