Gray can carry the ball to the byeline or into the box, and pick a pass without panicking because there are defenders nearby.

That's ideal for a player who knows how to time a run.

It's not about stats... He's not very creative. His first thought isn't creating something for a team-mate, it's getting to the goal. That's absolutely fine, but having him as your main focal point to create is never going to work.

With VDB coming in, then there's going to be more room, hopefully, for Gray to work in and not as much onus on him or Gordon to be our only spark.
