Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Was over on one of the City forums and they reckon they aren't done spending yet this January either mate.

To me that almost sounds like Peps saying I'd love him to stay but we're bringing players in and he won't play so can understand him moving.

Btw Mcatee is in the last 18 months of his contract already - so if city wanna cash in a same this window makes way more sense than the rumoured loans that sone German teams are offering City.

He's the one I think would prove a real game changer for us, not just for this season but for the needed rebuild.

Get Chukwuemenka in in a loan with an option, buy this lad, and make Lindstroms move permanent and we'd have a great young spine to this team who can develop together.

O'Brien (23), Branthwaite (22), Ndiaye (24), Lindstrom (24), Garner (23), Irongebuem (21), Mcatee (22), Chukwuemenka (22)

That would be one hell of a group of young players to have and put some experience and know how around them (Pickford, Gueye, Tarkowski)

Going into the summer and being able to focus on a striker a pair of Fullbacks and a few utility players, with a core of the team being young but not kids either.

It's essentially how Howard built the 80s side up.

General attitude of the City fans seems to be of yeah kinda needs to move on as he's good but not good enough yet to play the level they need him to be...

I'd be happy with him for 25m or less for sure, wait till the summer then the likes of Newcastle, West Ham, Villa, and various German teams will all have money constraints gone and we'd have zero chance at that point.

Btw it's be funny if Moyes 'need the right DNA' comment was a Freudian slip as we are after him, can see that being used by Moyes directly if we got the lad, be worth it for the unveiling vid as they'd be idiots to not run clips of ball at the start before unveiling the lad.

It sounds like Chelsea will only free the loan slot if we take one of theirs and they don't have a striker to offer. So that option may not exist.

I agree, long term Carney seems like a perfect Moyes player. You need an option or even obligation though if you go with him.
The talk at SB on Monday was that both were likely one on loan and one purchased outright.

KDH is at best a mid table midfielder he looked decent in the championship but be it him lacking in confidence or just lacking the speed of thought he simply doesn’t appear to move the ball with the speed or accuracy of others.

Carney on the other hand is potentially something a bit special that’s why it’s surprising that he hasn’t featured more and that from what others say is down to his attitude.

Our current owners are far more financially ruthless when it comes to football than RA. They will be looking for a deal that is heavily loaded in Chelsea’s favour. There is no obligation to cancel Borja’s loan and won’t unless there is some sort of advantage to us it will be interesting from our perspective and challenging from yours to see how that plays out.

Brighton would be asking for over 50m for Ferguson though

£50mil is a fee that no one would pay, perhaps 18months ago.

They have an asset thats not being used, surely they sell for what they can get.

Was thinking something similar the other day, though of course its dependent on Moyes formation.

Tough one that, Hall has way more experience but Chucky reminds me of Onana who Moyes was desperate for West ham to sign.

Btw if you actually look at what Moyes says pretty sure he wants two attackers and a central mid. Wonder if he wants that loan spot for a striker though....
Might the reason nothing has happened yet. Hall would be a useful player certainly with Mc Neil out. But what if we can get Ferguson on loan

He was one of the stars of that 2020 City youth team, with the likes of Palmer and Rogers.

I was tempered a bit yesterday about his comments of wanting "seasoned players" - though i guess you ca say McAntee is seasoned at this point.

Going forward id really like us to do what City and Chelsea have at youth level.

Im sure they have whole Depts, who work on nothing else but youth recruitment.

Its an industry.

Interesting btw, pretty strong rumours going around that City are gonna take Luiz on loan from Bayern with the option on him.

That happens then Mcatee I'd imagine is definitely gonna move on.

Just have a weird feeling that Moyes knows we are getting a couple in and who they are, seen enough of him over the years here to know when he's frustrated and when he's happy over deals behind the scenes.

This is probably the most relaxed I've ever seen Moyes although he's doing his best to try watch his words to hide it

Yeah I think Moyes comment was 'seasoned and hardened' Mcatee two full seasons at Sheffield United as a starter, one of those last year you can say will have definitely been a toughening up one. And he came through it without ever letting his head drop or giving it the big I am that often loan players do in those situations.

Also remember Moyes com ebts about being able to be someone with a long future at the team, which suggests played with experience but not 'veterans'

How much would you pay for him with 18 months left on his deal mate.

We were looking in around 18-20 for the likes of Gnonto and Philogene.

McAtee is definitely a Moyes player, and an Everton player as well. Busy little player with a good work ethic, reminds me of Osman.

He's in his 60s and just farting away under his desk when doing the pressers. No wonder he's relaxed and smiling
