Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

We can have 6 loans in total as per fifa rules. PL rules state only 2 loans from domestic clubs at one time (4 domestic loans total in a season).

So we technically have 2 loan spots free for international loans.

But if we had no domestic loans, we could technically have 6 international loans for example.
Seen a million different interpretations of the rules but this matches mine.

I just want to post this golden nugget again from Joe Thomas from the Echo, posted 2 days ago.

"Despite that challenge, heading into the weekend there was cause for positivity around the work the Blues had done in the transfer window. While no incomings had been secured, there was a sense the groundwork had been done and that the club was in a good position to act on that in the closing stages of the window"

So let's see if this positivity is misplaced or if they do have their ducks in a row ready to go before Mondays deadline.

We're going to need Moyes to pull a really good result on Saturday with extreme limitations up top, then they have 48hrs to get players in.

Because if they don't, that paragraph will be one of the most comical paragraphs I've heard in years

Yeah, there’s been a lot about it in recent years as fifa changed it in 2022 from 8 loans decreasing to 6 for this season.

The PL only regulate the domestic loans within the rule book but the rules have to correlate with the principles fifa set out as well.

It's a maximum of 4 : 2 domestic and 2 foreign

That link is only about loaning from other English clubs and nothing to do with international loans. It’s 6 total loans with a maximum of 2 domestic loans at one time.

What you’ve linked there is discussing

“how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.”

Nothing to do with loads from outside domestic.

yeah theres no upside to Lyon taking him back

the broja situation is mooted because chelsea have some players they want to offload, otherwise broja would be staying put for sure

not sure if lyon need to get anymore out on loan
not sure, but we can only have 4 loans in total

I thought it was 4 loans total, but apparently it's 4 foreign loans so it seems we've been twiddling our thumbs for 30 days when we could have potentially brought a couple of players in.

Yeah, Lyon and Chelsea aren't putting injured/unavailable players back on to their wage bill without us paying a price for it. They wont do us any favours any more than we'd do Marseille a favour by taking an injured Maupay back. I think if we make one or two signings before deadline, those two loanees will be chalked up to bad luck and we ride it out for the final 15 games.
