If Gbamin is proving himself ready in the near future, I’d inclined to agree with you, when I look at Sigurdsson and Gomes as ninety minute players I shudder, shudder very slightly less at the thought of them as subs, Tom Davies is a squad player until he plays in a settled position, then he might show the ability to be a regular, when Allan is fit he definitely improves the team, could even captain it, he plays like a captain anyway as urges them on continually, can he stay fit? Doucoure proved how much the team needs him when he didn’t play the other night, Delph does a decent job when he’s fit but he seldom is, there is no one pushing up for a start from the U23’s in midfield, so I think, taking into consideration of what I’ve just wrote, that we do need another central midfielder, along with a striker.

Once Doucoure and Allan are back there will be one space left in midfield (Davies/Gomes/Siggurdson). When Gbamin is fit, if he stays that way then hopefully he will be the backup for Doucoure and Allan. That doesn't include Delph, and James could even be included too as an attacking CM with D&A behind. Not forgetting Holgate has played there previously and done ok. Unless two of those leave there's no way we're getting another CM in.

Pedro Neto absolutely must be on the shopping list this Summer. Ticks all the boxes; wide forward, left-footed, skillful, rapid, creative.

An important thing to do with stats is make them per 90 minutes. James doesn't quite catch Grealish (who is kind of a weird playmaker because he sets up a lot of low quality shots, sort of a high volume Bernard) but he gets a lot closer than it looks here.
