an injury to DCL or Richy and we are in a bit of a mess. I appreciate the issues we have and that we need to offload, but to have a chance of European football and allow the squad to operate so threadbare would be very bizarre.

the issue is, handing a fat contract to a past-it Costa - even for six months - ends up cancelling out a lot of the wages we've saved by getting rid of Tosun (as in Besiktas paying his wage) and Bernard.

There are other options, either for a fee or loan deal, that can be had at in this window.

Would probably see James out on the right with Isco in the middle and Iwobi on the bench replacing Bernard as the cover option at LW/RW until the summer.
