Everton to make shock move for goalie Joe Hart? via Royal Blue Mersey

Blues looking to sign England's starting goaltender

Everton are being linked by some media sources with a move for England and Manchester City starting goalkeeper Joe Hart.

New City manager Pep Guardiola is said to be on the lookout for a sweeper keeper like the one he's had the last few years at Bayern Munich, Manuel Neuer. Both Neuer and Barcelona goaltender Marc-André ter Stegen are players that Guardiola is familiar with, and both have been linked with big-money moves to a new-look City side.

This makes the Three Lions keeper Hart expendable at the Etihad, and perfect for the picking by Everton who recently waved goodbye to their goalie for the last decade Tim Howard.

While there is no substance as yet to the rumours, some pretty high figures have been bandied about, with a transfer fee of £40m being mentioned. Hart's rumoured salary would also be a record for the Toffees, at an eye-popping £200,000-a-week for a five-year contract. His current contract runs through till the end of the 2018-19 season.

Hart's experience at the highest level of the game is unquestioned, and would certainly stabilize the position between the sticks going forward. At only 29, his best years are not behind him and Hart would be a key member of an expected defensive rebuild as the Blues attempt to put a horrific year behind them.

Here is some data on Hart, courtesy of WhoScored and TransferMarkt.

Everton contact David Moyes over manager’s position via Royal Blue Mersey

Toffees fans react with fury as club eyes former boss

The Liverpool echo is reporting that Everton have made contact with David Moyes over the vacant manager's position – and the natives are not happy.

The news has drawn a stinging reaction from supporters on social media, who see the return of Moyes as a huge step backwards for the club.

Moyes being interviewed reeks of one man, a man who should have walked away by now.

— Peter Mcpartland (@PED7) May 24, 2016

Moyes did a fine job in turning Everton into a solid top ten side after years as relegation strugglers. But for all that good work the Scot still failed to win a trophy during his 11 years in charge.

There was a feeling when he left in 2013 that Moyes had taken Everton as far as he could and the time was right for a change.

David Moyes getting the job would be definitive proof that Everton Football Club is an elaborate lie with the sole purpose of winding me up.

— Darren (@nsno_83) May 24, 2016

Therefore it makes no sense for him to return just three years later, especially given his reputation has hardly been enhanced by failures at Manchester United and Real Sociedad.

The supporters also haven't forgotten his bungled attempts to sign Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines in the weeks following his move to Old Trafford.

Just talking to David Moyes shows a serious lack of ambition on Everton's part. Even if club are being thorough, no point considering him.

— Ell Bretland (@EllBretland) May 24, 2016

Large enough section of fanbase would be furious if Moyes returned. Achieved little in 11 years and later showed what he thinks of #EFC.

— Ell Bretland (@EllBretland) May 24, 2016

In defence of the club, it seems they are simply sounding out potential candidates at this stage to hear what they have to say.

The wild fluctuations in the betting also suggests Everton haven't identified a prime target just yet, with a different favourite seemingly every day.

However, they would do well to take note of the supporters' opinion regarding Moyes. They will not want a repeat of the scenes we saw in the final few protest-filled weeks of Martinez's tenure. They need to get this one right.

The shortlist does appear though to have been narrowed down to five names: Frank de Boer, Ronald Koeman, Unai Emery, Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes.

Who would be your first choice? Have your say in the comments below!

Jose Mourinho interested in Seamus Coleman via Royal Blue Mersey

The likely-to-be-announced manager at Old Trafford eyes the Irish right back.

While not yet officially proclaimed as the new manager at Manchester United, it looks like Jose Mourinho has already started making more than a few targets on the disgruntled Everton squad. When captain Phil Jagielka expected double digit numbers of players to exit the squad we knew names would be flying rampant.

The Red Devils will be looking at right backs this summer and well, one thing leads to another. Seamus Coleman has been targeted often in his time with Everton. Originally signed for just £60,000 when he arrived at Goodison he was arguably one of the best signings based on return in club history.

His current market value is arguably around £20M and Everton will not let him go without a fight. Especially if Mourinho also looks to raid the back four by signing center back John Stones as well. At 27 years of age Coleman is in his prime playing age and would be a huge asset to the next Blues manager. That said his value may never be higher and there has to be a price that Everton would be willing to part ways with him.

What that value is I don't know, but this adds another name to the list of players Everton must fight to retain this summer. It'll be interesting who Everton hire as manager in regards to what aspect he wants to keep. If we select a manager who values attacking full backs or even wing back positions then there is even less likelihood that Coleman departs.
