Still though, "Marco Silva's first signing"

Perhaps we've read too far into this and it simply that Silva has identified him and passed it on to Brands who has concurred.

As always its hard to say, I mean with Walsh and Koeman, you could maybe pinpoint who signed who, there were of course a few unknowns, but I think we all agree that Koeman "signed" Klaassen, Martina, Stek at the very least.

The lads a very highly rated young player, so I presume they have had a sit down and gone through a list, the boy is the 1 they both liked the look of, who knows, lets just get the boy in and take a look, if hes rubbish, Silva signed him, if hes boss, it was Brands, simple.

But what we do know is that in the press conference, Silva did say signing players wasnt his job.

At the end of the day, if any player signs and he's good - it reflects well on the club.

If they sign and they are bad - reflects poorly.

That's the game.

I haven’t seen much of him but after watching his highlights on YouTube the thing that caught my eye is how much space he’s given in Scotland. He just seems to receive the ball with no one within 10 yards of him and then kicks it past the opposing fullback into acres of space. In those conditions Baines (in his prime) would be getting dozens of assists.

A know mate. The English fan in general really know Celtic are much bigger globally than most teams in England. But will never admit it.
In all fairness fella that has more to do with the faux 'Irish' rebel song singing IRA wannabe culture of your brand. That has a very particular global appeal to folks 'from the old country', its not because Celtic are specially awesome.
Having said that, cracking football clubs Celtic and Rangers. As has been mentioned by one of you guys it's not their fault they are in a lesser league, you can only beat what's in front of you after all.
Whatever happens to Tierney, he sounds a gem of a player and a level headed down to earth type, so good luck to him.

Not seen much of him bar the odd CL game and SPL but he looks good and lots of time to improve. It makes sense as a Brands signing a player of a good age who can come in and improve and contribute now but will also have value in the future. I hope we can get him but I presume other so called bigger teams will be in for him too as going of Brenda's comments he is considering moving.

Er, the only fair way of judging how big a club is from a different league is by comparing the ammount of Twitter followers they have. Celtic have less than Crystal Palace. It's a myth theyve got tonnes of fans, they haven't.

Moot point then - Baines in his prime was getting dozens of assists in the PL too, by doing the same thing.

People overrate this league SO much.

I guess we need to mull over and then consider making a move, before analysing the prospect of launching a bid for him... and then watch him join Spurs for less than we were quoted as being prepared to pay.

Can we give them 20m plus Baines? He'll be sound for a few years up there.

Yes they do.

But regardless, Tierney is a good player, could hang in the CL, just not seeing this future superstar.

That's the thing, in '90 and '96 if you beat Germany on penalties you would've probably have won another world cup and Euro championships. It's no coincidence that once the money from Sky came into your league your National team went downhill. All these people celebrating their teams having so much money, etc, it seems so counter-productive to me, because surely they know that it's bad for England?

Trust me, Scotland are looking up at crap.
In all fairness most supporters in England don't celebrate how much money their club supposedly has.
I would absolutely love a football Armageddon and clocks set back to zero, with all clubs limited on how much they can spend, completely equal across the board.
I would say the overwhelming majority of footy supporters in England would welcome this. Its only the likes of Chelsea, the Manchester clubs, Arsenal, Spurs and brats next door that would oppose it.
The Premier league is rotten and unbalanced and compounded by the fraud of the 'champions' league which has poured incredible wealth on these clubs and pushed them away from fair competition.
Celtic themselves by continually winning a weaker league benefit from this 'champions' league exposure also and have their coffers filled with UEFA gold treasure. This also weakens and damages competition in the SPL.
Neither of our leagues or any other European league is infallible to criticism.

I don't really understand this, England's standard of players didn't go down after 1996 it went up. To our detriment in a lot of cases as the managers were forced to shoehorn all the players in the team. Which left no cohesion and some of the best players in the world in their positions playing out of position. The sponsors telling the F.A they wanted their boys playing for England which in turn forced the F.A to hire crap yes men as managers.

We had Neville, carrigher, Terry, sol campbell, Rio, Cole, scholes, Gerrard, lampard, Beckham, Owen, Rooney, fowler. It was even nicknamed the golden generation
