the negativity around this all ready haha? shouldnt we all be happy we signed the youth top scorer? someone else would, you have to sign the best youngsters or end up paying a fortune further down the line
The only negativity is about the manner of the transfer, not the player.

From the sound of it and the few clips ive seen he's a goalscorer who comes alive in the box, hopefully the lad does well, striker is probably the one area in recent years we haven't really had anyone genuinely knocking on the door to breakthrough to the first team so hopefully the lad can do it at the U21 level and then eventually earn his chance with the first team lads.

Well this has been going on since April when details were released, and Mowbray made his remarks then , deal only now concluded. It is a difficult one, frustrating for the smaller clubs but actually something that is encouraged by the footballing hierarchy. There is a thing called EPPP , Elite Player Performance Plan , which is there to facilitate young players to move up to elite academies and clubs to pay for them accordingly. We did it about 18 months ago with a youngster from Northamton, Fraser Hornby, and they had mixed feelings too.
While this transfer is outside that system , and based upon him not renewing his contract , you can see it from both sides , player and club. Ultimately we can offer a better , elite, Academy structure for him to develop in but equally we need to ensure that Coventry are adequately compensated and we don't start haggling to keep the price down, our reputation with smaller clubs is important.

Dear Massala Mario,
In this crazy world we live in, someone you've never heard of or will probably never meet, feels, as an Evertonian a Liverpool fan, that its utterley pointless ok to write to you on an internet page to say welcome. But here I am, and there you are, somewhere, smashing line after line for the Spurs game today.

But I'm writing this with no real meaning when I say welcome, because you are now at a club that is different, and a club where the fans genuinely fume care about their team. Now I'm quite sure every fan of any team would say that, but at Everton Liverpool, you're not just a player, you're an U21's player you a Liverpool player and that means you're part of our family. You are now one of us, and you are now family (you're welcome round for tea anytime mate).

Welcome to a bond with a set of fans that will not yet just sing your name, but look out for you doing something daft on twitter, welcome to a ground where the feeling is different, a sense of history, family and warmth, of times shared and where the outside world and press are invited in but never truly part of it, welcome to a place, a sense of place, a culture that sets us apart from the rest of them.

I've read f all about your upbringing, basically just saw this. it must be very odd to spend an extended period of time in and around Coventry have your everyday shared with millions, your history available for analysis and comment by strangers, and then to be called 'crazy' by these people who haven't a clue. They are the crazy folk, they are the ones who think its ok to write about other people as if they are professional pyschologists, mind readers and judges of character. Not you.

Well, welcome to a club that sets apart from that world. Liverpool is a club that does it differently, where the emotions are heartfelt not invented, the flags are fabric not plastic and the noise deafeningly sincere.

Liverpool's great players have all been special, and different and gifted and marvellous to watch, and all of them acknowledge the club has a special place in their hearts. You are brilliant at your job, wonderful to watch, and you arriving here has made a lot of people excited. You have the gift of creating emotion in men's hearts, that's the real meaning of football, and I hope I speak for all Liverpool fans when I say, have the best time of your life here, have a great career and score lots of goals sure, but really, truly, have a great life whilst at our club.

In some ways, Bassala, see you in preseason 18/19 welcome home.
