Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

I’d rather sign a load of kids from the championship and give the academy lads a go.

You look at the England squad and think at some point Kane was on Leicester’s bench (with Vardy) , Maddison was at Norwich, Bellingham at Birmingham, Rice couldn’t get a game at West Ham, Stones at Barnsley, Toney unwanted at Newcastle etc.

Everton should be getting in at the critical point with these players and just when they think they’re frustrated at not playing we come along with an opportunity to play first team football in the PL. It’s what Moyes did so well with Jagielka Baines Lescott and then Stones right at the end.

So I know everyone says we should tap up South America and Asia but frankly we can’t even cover every blade of grass in the uk for a start! We’re no longer even competing for decent Scottish Welsh and Irish talent.

Branthwaite is probably the only decent play we’ve made in terms of this sort of signing since Moyes left and look how that might repay us.

Lookman should've been that player. Now ripping it up in Serie A.

"In case you haven't noticed"

...well clearly you havent 'noticed' the players you listed as none of them get in the team.

In addition, being on 'free' transfers doesnt mean theyre 'free'...

..."in case you havent noticed".

There's no correlation between those poor players and any signings the club has made under this DOF.
If we are likely to lose Onana and Branthwaite plus Harrison will hopefully return back on loan.

We also have Coleman and Young potentially retiring/released

So we need a centre back, centre midfielder, right winger and right back.

So those free transfers would very easily get into our team BECAUSE we have no other alternatives in the squad and we have no money.

So why are you getting so shirty over someone's opinion

….he has to work with what he’s been given, I’m sure he’d like to work with better quality players. I’m 100% certain if he had better quality at his disposal, he’d utilise it. Remember when posters were fixated that he’d use over Keane over Branthwaite; ridiculous but suited the Dyche stereotype.
The stereotype is what we are seeing on the pitch, every week.
This narrative that he only plays this way because he has no alternative has no evidence to support it at all. He has played this way at three clubs, the only evidence that exists supports the hypothesis that this is how he always plays. The spurious notion that he would play some other way if only given the opportunity is pie in the sky, there is no evidence, none, to support that assertion. This is how Sean Dyche sets up his football teams, he always has done and always will do. If this season hasn't convinced you that there is no plan B, that there is no other system that Dyche can draw on, then I don't know what will. There is zero tactical flexibility in the man, everyone knows how he will set up and how the patterns of play will present because it is exactly the same every single time. If he makes a substitution it is like for like, every time. This is Sean Dyche, if he is given the opportunity to sign players they will be players that fit that one system. He should not be given that opportunity.

Yep, even thought that didn’t work out for us we still got a decent fee. We can’t compete for South American talent long term because the La Liga teams have that locked up, they’d rather move to Brighton than us because they know they’ll have a season then get a move to Chelsea or a top European team.

I’d rather pull all the scouts back to the UK and tell them to cover every single academy game and lower league game and find an 11 of players that might actually want to play for us and are available, then target the right time to approach them. Might sound a bit moneyball but honestly what are the Everton scouts in Portugal South America, Central America etc. even doing? Moyes and Irving driving round the lower leagues in their car had better success than our entire ‘modern’ recruitment structure.

Doughty's another one who'd probably fit in well here. Solid up and down left sided player but with far more end product than Myko. Luton even had him playing as LCB at the weekend although that was more down to their ridiculous injury list as apparently they have 5 CBs out injured?

Not sure if he's out of contract but if they go down they're not going to be demanding 10-15m for these players bar probably Adebayo.
Another decent player but I suspect these players will have better options than us and I also doubt we will sign players for a fee this summer.

None of the players on that list are good enough though, the lad at Fulham has been linked with bigger clubs than us, the rest on the list are trash pal. I mean Barbosa wouldn't even start for a Championship team he is awful, he makes Beto look like Van Basten.

Have you just randomly plucked those crap players out of thin air or do you actually believe they would be effective in the premier league?

They are crap.

Thyrys Dolan (not a world beater) but more explosive than someone like Harrison!

Contract up in the summer! Others on the list likes of Callum O'Hare & Louis Sibley could be worth a punt

You see these players being picked up by top championship teams, get promoted and then before you know it they cost 30 mill to buy. There has to be an intelligent way of getting them earlier. It’s every footballing kids dream to play PL football. We can offer that yet we’re too busy overpaying for PL proven players.

We did well out of Lookman and Vlasic as well.

Zat gets really angry when people tell him we aren't selling everybody over 25 and buying teenagers.

Careful now, he will start with the name calling soon.

Sean Dyche is manager and will have one year left on his contract at the end of this season.

Obviously he will have an input into transfers but I don't think he will have as big an influence as some think.

Kevin Thelwell is in my opinion the person with the biggest influence as it is his role to buy players not just for next season but for seasons after that and to buy players that we may sell for profit (unfortunately). Jarrad Branthwaite single handedly being sold will solve huge financial problems for us( again unfortunate that he needs to be sold).
Thelwell had a deal in place for Kudus which would have been an excellent bit of business and Onana should also make a profit, if sold.

Thelwell will be looking at the bigger long term picture and I think has already said the days of Everton paying big fees for player of 28 or over are gone.

Free transfer of older players can be good value with Tarkowski being the obvious example and we do need players to flesh out the squad so I expect there will be a couple of free transfers coming in, Brownhill in this case being a possibility.
